I am drawing a blank.

It used to be easy as he never used to buy new clothes / shoes etc so I could do that but he was promoted last year and is taking more care over clothes and appearance so he's basically buying himself what I used to buy him! Gggrrr.

Has anyone found anything a little bit different or "wow" that I can steal?

Is there anything in particular that he likes? Hobbies, food, drink etc.

Last year I bought DH some Ugg slippers, he’d never have bought them for himself (wasn’t much of a slipper wearer and also wouldn’t have spent that much on slippers anyway) and he loves them and wears them all the time. So much so, I’m definitely going to have to replace them one day but they’re going strong so far!

Does it have to be a thing? Could you do a subscription present- a magazine he likes, or foodie presents where a different parcel appears each month?

What about focusing on the clothes that aren’t seen? I got dh cushioned sole socks last year in his stocking and they’re on his wish list this year.

BAM do lovely soft bamboo T-shirts and underwear.

Not exactly wow gifts when you open them, but I get appreciation everytime he wears them!

Coffee machine? DH (late 30s) got one last year and it was by far his favourite present.

I feel your pain though. I feel like I get him the same stuff every year.

DP is getting a Secrid wallet (slim card holder type thing) and a flask with a tea strainer in as he will only drink loose leaf.

BeckhamSeven · 29/11/2023 18:38

This year's gifts are either things for the house/garden, new sunglasses, new wellies and a trip away for a couple of nights

Noimaginationforaun · 29/11/2023 18:40

I need that flask for myself! What is it called?

Justnoidea · 29/11/2023 19:05

Coffee machine for birthday went down amazingly with DH and am getting him a subscription to his fave beans for Xmas. Also have my eye on some nice slippers if I’m feeling generous! He is 36.

MammaGnomes · 29/11/2023 20:13

I've got DH a bean to cup coffee machine. Our nespresso has given up the ghost after 10 years and I think he's ready to upgrade to a bean machine. He's also dropped a lot of hints so I think I'm on to a winner

MammaGnomes · 29/11/2023 20:16

I pressed post too soon. Other ideas I've had and some recent birthday present's

AirPods
Waterproof coat for dog walking
Expensive aftershave
Watch
Watch box
Board game
Oodie

Ah thanks everyone! Great minds, I did coffee machine last year... I'll look into some of these Grin I wish he hadn't started buying his own clothes!

I hate to say boring things such as a dressing gown and slippers, but dh said for years he’d never wear either and, having got them as a present last year, he can’t stop gushing over how comfy and warm he is!!

RandomUsernameHere · 29/11/2023 21:46

How about an activity or trip away? We're booking a spa break as our present to each other.

professionalnomad · 30/11/2023 11:24

Mine is getting Air Tags and the unbreakable holders for his stocking
I'm sick of him asking me where his wallet/phone/keys are so hopefully this will mitigate that!

Daisies12 · 30/11/2023 11:26

We've done spa trip as our present to each other, we both have everything we need.
