Ideas for gifts for parents in early 70s

I’m after some ideas for presents for my parents, both in their early 70’s. I’d love them to go somewhere together but they’re very different! My mum’s hobbies are gardening and walking and my dad’s focus around football. My mum is a veggie and has a limited diet whereas my dad is a foodie.

They live in Buckinghamshire so ideally somewhere close to home. I have a budget of around £150.

National Trust or English Heritage annual membership

@Seadreamers Such a good idea but they already have this 😂

Mine have got a silver frame with nice xmasy photo of grandchildren and a lovely soft wool blanket.

Gift vouchers to spend at Aylesbury Waterside theatre.

My DPs are late 60s/early 70s. My dad is getting a framed print related to his favourite football team. My mum is getting some Jo Malone goodies and some books she's asked for.

last year I found one of my mum’s old school books in a shop and she was thrilled, this year am thinking a globe
books?
vouchers for a meal?

Do they need a combined gift or would separate do?
-Dad, Veggie BBQ course for dad, BBQ smoker, BBQ utensil kit, foodie hamper
-For mum, gold leaf gloves, bird feeder or bird bath, secateurs, winter walking boots

Tickets to something at The Mill at Sonning.

Similar age to me. I’d like a bottle of Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, some Laura Mercier make up, tickets to see a favourite band, a pair of ear pods, a couple of bottles of Cremant, a ring or earrings from Isla Silver. I know we’re all different but I wouldn’t want a blanket or a photo frame. I may be knocking on but I’m not ready for pipe and slippers yet, or whatever the female equivalent is.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 03/12/2023 03:47

Oh, and a giant Lego set.

mynameiscalypso · 03/12/2023 10:47

@AppleDumplingWithCustard Are you actually my parents? That sounds like exactly what they'd want (including the Crement). I always find these threads really hard to get ideas for my parents (and my mum in particular) because she'd think I was playing some sort of joke on her.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 03/12/2023 10:56

@mynameiscalypso Not unless I have a daughter I don’t recall birthing. 😂. I just hate all the ‘old lady’ gifts that always pop up on threads like this. I’m sure some would be thrilled with them but they don’t appeal to me. As I said, each to their own though.

Some great ideas here, thanks everyone!

@CheeseCakeSunflowers I totally forgot about the theatre in Aylesbury which is really close to them and there’s some great things on there! Thank you!

Thanks, I was there for my birthday treat from my son last week.
