Kitchen gadgets for a 12 year old

My 12 year old has asked for kitchen gadgets for Christmas. By this he means the kind of small gadgets he sees reviewed on YouTube. He has a strawberry huller and a milk frother already. I know he’s seen some multi bladed scissors he thought would be useful and was eyeing up a toothpaste dispenser (he also might like personal care gadgets). Can anyone recommend things along these kind of lines that he may like and that actually work. I’d be very grateful.

A mandolin, if you can trust him to be careful with his fingers.

Goggleb0x · 26/11/2023 10:35

Brilliant ideas, thank you. I think he would like the crimpit/toaster pocket things. And the melon baller and apple cutter.

Mini waffle maker and a pack of waffle mix from Lakeland? Was a big hit with my 11yo DS last year.

Does he actually cook? If so a good sharp knife is essential.

Toastie sandwich maker? Mine can also make waffles and be used like a George Forman grill.

Ice cream maker, lakeland do one for about £20.

No he’s not a cook yet, but likes to make his snacks and to bake as well. I think he’d love the waffle maker.

Chocolate fondue.
Cookie cutters, possibly themed according to his interests. I saw some Paddington ones today, and I guess there will be loads of different ones out there.
I have bought personalised spatulas from NOTH before, but don't know if they have them this year.
Would also recommend looking at the Lakeland website as there are always loads of things that you never knew you needed on there!

Would he like molds for donuts or for ice lollies or something else along those lines? I have cake pop molds as well. I have put some thing on my wishlist

Maybe this is the time for him to start cooking, maybe a pasta machine?

Or what do you like to eat / drink?

Think strategically. If you like sausages then a sausage maker, if you like pies then a pie maker. Bread - bread maker, if you like cake then an electric whisk.

I once gave a friend's son a pizza wheel in the shape of a rotary saw. In subsequent years he got various novelty pizza wheels / cutters / scissors.

Although this particular young man thinks pizza needs to be consumed at least twice a week and if possible every day.

A colour changing egg timer by Kitchen Craft

A wooden citrus fruit juice reamer

A cherry/olive stoner

A gingerbread man or star pastry cutter, or a pastry crimping wheel

A pastry glaze brush

DS11 is getting a Sous vide for Christmas. We do eat a lot of steak and he watches Nick Giovanni cooking all the meat on you tube.

Popcorn maker

we still use ours 15 years later

Omelette maker. I couldn’t see the point of them until I had one for the caravan. Now it’s in-the house and used very regularly.
Game changer. It’s brilliant. Clean , quick and so easy .
