Hi all
I'm hoping someone can help. We're coming over from Ireland on Christmas eve. I was hoping to order a click and collect in Sainsbury's Carlisle
The problem is, they have about 3 two hour time slots, none of which we can get to. I'm just wondering what would happen if I booked a slot and didn't turn up till 2 hours after.
Tried to call the store, couldn't get through to them.
Thanks!

I worked for Tesco and tbh on Christmas Eve I wouldn't recommend being 2 hours late. Because the store will be closed Christmas Day they will have to do 2 days worth of reductions, I know my store wouldn't hold it back for two hours plus the fact that they are not answering the phone now would mean that it's very unlikely they'd answer Christmas Eve.

If it's not fresh food you could risk it but you wouldn't get your refund until after Christmas so you could potentially be out of pocket and left with nothing.

As Christmas Eve is a Sunday, they will only be open for six hours so three two hour time slots is probably right. If you arrived after four it would likely be closed (here the supermarkets choose 10 to 4 as their six hour slot). Do you have any other options?

Will they not open fir longer hours seeing as it's Christmas eve?

They'll all be wanting to go home to spend Christmas with their loved ones. Christmas eve is Sunday so they'll either be open 10-4 or 11-5.

Please don’t just turn up late, it’s such a busy time of year

BeyondMyWits · 23/11/2023 20:45

If you turn up after 4 it'll be shut. It's a Sunday.

Sunday trading laws prevent longer opening in a larger store.

OK, thanks everyone, really appreciate your help.
