As above! Some things we've already done:
Paint your own money box/plant pots
Visit to one of those pottery painting places
Hama beads
Polymer clay
Air dry clay
Needle felting (not much success, the needles kept snapping)

My son is 9 and he’s recently enjoyed making clay bead bracelets and key rings. We got the clay beads from temu - really cheap, especially if you are a new user so can use 40% off codes.

He also likes paint by numbers - hobbycraft have some nice ones that are a little more difficult so suitable for their age.

He’s also keen to have a go at knitting/crochet.

A gingerbread house kit? A kids cookbook? Painting by numbers (or no numbers if he's good at art)? A rag rug kit he can make for his bedroom? A joinery/carpentry set? My son is similar but a bit younger, I'll keep thinking!

Trip to Hobbycraft or similar!

Umbellifer · 23/11/2023 16:42

That's just reminded me @BlueChampagne , my family got DS a big box of random stuff from Hobbycraft - paper and card, glue, bits to stick on, stencils and sequins...he loved it! Huge mess potential but never mind 😁

A Big Shot machine and some cutting dies and card

Thanks all, loads of great ideas here.

I remembered something else I'm getting him that your kids might like too - a 3D pen.

I was just about to suggest 3D pen. Got DS one last year when he was ten and he loved it

Drop spindle and a bit of wool roving

neonleopard · 23/11/2023 19:37

Mine likes loom bands, diamond art. And his apple style pen and pro create for iPad! He also wants a marbling kit.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 23/11/2023 20:17

Subscription to toucan boxes?

fruitypancake · 23/11/2023 20:40

Light box

GoodVibesHere · 23/11/2023 20:45

Tie dye kit
Diamond art

Peabody25 · 24/11/2023 16:07

Which 3D pen would people recommend please?

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 24/11/2023 16:10

Stone painting - lots of pebbles (flat surface ideal), posca pens/acrylic paints and spray sealant. I also bought DS a book which had ideas in it at that age

It went down well, as he really enjoyed arts and crafts but had no talent so lots of other things were out of reach for him

would he like the more grown up a3 sticker books of mosaic animals and things?
