Interesting whisky bottles

Hi everyone,

Dad has asked for whisky in 'interesting' bottles for Xmas. Budget is around £60 and I've no idea what I'm doing. I know taste-wise he likes Jack Daniels honey... Any help appreciated, thank you!

Sounds like he likes on the sweeter side? I'd avoid the more peaty ones then and if Scottish malt if maybe go for the spey side ones.

Cardhu comes in a square bottle. DH has had some lovely bottle shapes in the past but doesn't have anything particularly exciting bottle wise on his shelf at the moment. Tamdhu is the most interesting on his shelf for now.

Just trying to remember some of the nicer ones.

Highland Park bottles are quite different

The bruachladdie classic comes in a turquoise bottle.

Would be consider Gin? Isle of Harries gin comes in a beautiful bottle
Johnny Walker do limited edition bottles but I think they are £££

I have no affiliation with this shop although it is local to me and I've bought a few things.

They are glass blowers and do whisky (and gin) related stuff which can make nice gifts.

Is he wanting to drink it or display it?

I was once given a commemorative bottle of Bells, I can’t remember if it was for Charles and Diana’s wedding or Williams birth, but it was a really nice bottle. It was given to me by my friend’s elderly relative because I liked whiskey. I never intended to drink it, but, when he died we opened it at his funeral, it really was not drinkable. I gave the bottle to my friend afterwards, she still has it. I know some of these bottles opened and unopened can be bought on eBay.

Jack Daniels have a whiskey in a Guitar case that is quite popular. You can find on Master of Malt.

Arran also do similar.

If he has taste, Johnnie Walker Blue Label do some gorgeous issues.

There is the Game of Thrones set, you can also get generic whiskies in fancy decanters shaped like guns or animals.

Stags breath is a good one its more of a liqueur but its always a hit with people we have given it to.

Dimple was always my Dad’s favourite and that comes in a three cornered hat type shaped bottle.
DH likes a drop of Stag’s Breath as pp mentioned.

Where are you? There's a brilliant shop in Brighton and the bloke in there can find anything.

Edradour 10

From one of Scotland's smallest distilleries. You can probably get a 10 year age for your budget. A decidedly rum-like dram with a thick mouthfeel. This single malt’s decade of ageing was spent in a combination of Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks.
Nose Medium, great complexity. Thoroughly fruity, sherry, sweetness, alluring vanilla.
Palate Cloying, seductive murkiness. Rum, barley, toasted almonds
Finish Any confusion is arrested: spiced fruitcake with crème anglaise.
Overall An unusual malt.

Glenturret have some fancy bottles, as the distillery is owned by Lalique
to the previous poster who mentioned Harris Gin (which does come in a gorgeous bottle) they also have a whisky out this year, which is £65 so might be doable for you OP? another lovely bottle

These Dalmore bottles are nice with the silver stag's head, and the tasting notes for this one mention honey.

I bought my son a Singleton whisky and it was absolutely delicious. We remarked upon how the bottle was interesting

I have Cardu in the cupboard to give as a Christmas present

Quite a few really decent whiskeys are on special offer with the run up to Christmas
