Not a soft toy but my daughter slept with this sloth nightlight in her bed for ages. It was cute enough that she didn’t mind it being made of plastic (and she is a soft toy devotee!). She eventually graduated to this neon flamingo beside the bed (although to be honest it still went in the bed sometimes). She also has a grow clock and stars projection on her ceiling which all help her not be scared in the dark.
