Milk frothers/velvetiser dupes

I'm looking for a new velvetiser dupe as my aldi one from a few years ago had the burning issue on the bottom and I had to chuck it out. I've seen a lot of milk frothers around, can you use them as a velvetiser and put chocolate in or do they come out too frothy and not really smooth? A lot seem to only have capacity to make one small cup at a time as well, is there any with a larger capacity? Budget isn't massive, around £20-30. Any recommendations? 🙂

I don't think any milk frother will work as well as velvetisers as they are for different things, but I just got a milk frother in the Amazon sales for 22.99. It's the Swan one you should see it if you search for it in the black Friday category. I haven't used it as it's a gift but the reviews are good and so is the price. It says the capacity is 1.2 litres.

I have the Nespresso one. It’s really great. Haven’t used the Velvetiser so can’t compare them.

I posted this on a similar thread a couple of years ago - two years later we’re still using it regularly and it’s great. You don’t need to froth the milk cos the shaking action does that, but you do need to heat it in the microwave.

I bought this last Christmas- it does the same thing as a velvetiser but manually! It’s a hot chocolate shaker - the trick is the lid expands out when you shake the chocolate with the hot milk so it doesn’t explode.

You put chocolate bits in the bottom - I buy Belgian chocolate chips / callets, but you can break up any chocolate bar (orange twirls were nice!) or use any hot choc powder etc. Then you top up with hot milk and shake for 20 seconds, and it pours out beautifully emulsified and creamy. It’s so simple and really good - we’ve loved having hot choc all year!

I've bought a reconditioned one from Hotel Chocolate for £69. It has a 1 year guarantee. It's the copper one. It came in the original box with 2 ceramic cups. It looks brand new.

Unfortunately my budget doesn't stretch that far. I'll have to keep an eye out for a proper dupe and not a milk frother from the sound of it

I've got one very similar to this. Press the button 4 times to make hot choc.Milk Frother Electric - 4 in 1 Milk Frother Machine, Hot & Cold Milk Foam Coffee Frother, 350ml Milk Warmer with Automatic Power Off, Hot Chocolate Maker Machine, Milk Frothers for Coffee Cappuccino amzn.eu/d/8GTfrtj Frother It's fine although a measuring jug in the microwave does a similar job and is easier to wash.

Sometimes I wish I'd gone for a velvetiser though - more stylish. Have a look for a secondhand one.

I've used a handheld milk frother like this for a few years for my morning coffee - it works great, is cheap, easy to clean and just need AA batteries.
