I always find these threads really helpful, is there already one on the go?

If not here's my starting contribution:-
Lego mini figures
Shower steamer
Magnesium flakes for soaking aching muscles
Fudge
And of course socks!

slipperypenguin · 24/11/2023 19:36

Classy shower gel
Various classy comestibles
Mushroom stress toy
Whisky miniature
Hobby-related book
Soap
Keyring (relates to family joke)
Aaaand... SOCKS!

Given the size of his stocking, it might not all fit...

SugarCookieMonster · 24/11/2023 20:12

Last years winner was a head torch (elasticated to go around your head and keep hands free. We’ve used it a surprising amount! Great for attics, DIY and searching for lost lego parts under the sofa.

So far I’ve got:
Turkish delight
socks
chocolate coins
aftershave
pjs

someone mentioned hot sauce keyring - what is that and where do you get it? I have someone who likes the hottest possible sauce on things so looking for ideas for him

caringcarer · 24/11/2023 20:47

Bottles of beer with funny Xmas names.

caringcarer · 24/11/2023 20:48

Just remembered Roberto Firmino has a new book out Si Senor. Good for a Liverpool football fan.

I used to get these every year from M&S for my husband but for some reason they don’t seem to sell them anywhere

I remember when they used to do them as part if the dine in for ten range.

MapleSyrupWaffles · 24/11/2023 20:57

ah, thank you. That might be an idea, and he can refill it with whatever his current fave is. Though I doubt he would actually use it, which means it might just be a joke present, and I'm not sure I should be buying random tat if he won't actually use it. hmm. I do need something for him, and maybe he would use it in certain circs.

Lego keyrings LEGO® Keyrings | Official LEGO® Shop GB
Beard oil
Sports socks
Bottle of beer
personalised OS map (might be more of a main present due to price) - you can get them custom printed with a specified location in the centre of the map to avoid buying several when you drop off the page
cooking herbs / spices kits (Nando's sauce was strangely popular once!)
Funky undies (black friday sale at Oddballs today)
Set of Allen keys and bike tyre levers

@Goodornot a buff or a lightweight beanie hat, reflective gloves, waterproof socks, yaktrax if you live somewhere that gets snow, lights, energy gels (check what he uses, if he uses them as not all agree with everyone's stomachs), hydration tablets, waist belt / phone case, parkrun barcode tags or wristband (if he does parkrun), spikey massage ball. It really depends what he's already got and how far he's running (if he only does 5-10km then he won't need energy gels).

DH got me an OS map centred on our house a couple of years ago. I love it but it was around ten times as much to get it framed as it cost to buy! It does look amazing though.

WolfFoxHare · 24/11/2023 21:13

A few years ago, I got DH a beanie with a head torch in it, with a usb charger. It went down really well and still gets regular use in winter - taking bins out, looking for the cats at bedtime, nipping out to car etc etc.

vinoandbrie · 24/11/2023 21:17

Toblerone
2 x cocktails
Molton Brown shower gel

So hardly anything! I need to crack on.

Goodornot · 24/11/2023 21:47

I have a nice pair of socks from the London sock exchange. Nice tie.

Hardly anything.

I'm planning on nice chocolate, bit no idea what else.

noodlezoodle · 24/11/2023 21:54

Disco ball light bulbs!
Foodie dice for when we can't think of what to make for dinner.
Mini magnetic box cutters - we have these stuck to the fridge and use them just about every day. Sounds very boring but I buy them for everyone and they are always well received.

RedKite99 · 25/11/2023 13:57

@noodlezoodle where do you buy magnetic box cutters - great idea but struggling to find the magnetic ones - thanks

Hmmm. I get these, but I'm in the US: https://www.amazon.com/OLFA-1136657-Magnetic-Touch-Varies/dp/B07RKL27C8/ref=sr_1_9

Can't see them on UK amazon which is very weird! Ah - edited to add, looks like you can buy from them direct: https://olfacutters.co.uk/Olfa-TK-3-Magnetic-Touch-Knife

Crikeyalmighty · 25/11/2023 19:48

Rituals - car air fresheners- smell amazing

Framed picture I took of a photo he actually likes himself in

Leather small 'man bag' for phone and bits when on holiday (not going in stocking)

Small tin of gentlemens relish

Xmas week copy of Private Eye

£5 of scratch cards

£5 lottery ticket

Tub of cashew nuts

UnimaginableWindBird · 25/11/2023 21:04

@Crikeyalmighty snap with the Private Eye, and possibly gentleman's relish. Also underwear, lots of sweets and chocolate, some stilton, a salami, a pen, a toothbrush. I usually put in some Eau de Baux deodorant but he's built up a surplus, so I might swap it for shower gel from the same range. Probably a heated eye mask. A kazoo (reused from previous years). A box cutter is a pretty good idea, so I might nick that. Some fingerless gloves if he doesn't buy any between now and Christmas.

I miss the M&S Irish coffees too. I have bought this bottle for my DH this year:

familyissues12345 · 25/11/2023 21:51

Shower steamers sound interesting, where would I get those please?

I've got three "men" to buy for, current ideas -

15 yo DS - Nike socks, hair stuff (he's got that fluffy fringe look at the moment, uses sea salt spray but I wonder if there's other stuff he could try?), boxing tape

20yo DS- last year started tools as a new thing, got him a ratchet set and tape measure. Thinking maybe a spirit level and some Allen keys this year Grin! Will also get socks and chocolates .

DH - grumpy bugger who's hard to buy for. Maybe some socks?! New pens for work?!

dressedforcomfort · 25/11/2023 22:02

Previous stockings for my DH have included:

Toblerone/choc orange
Beard balm and beard comb
Bottle of real ale
Packets of seeds
Soap
Mini Tub of Pringles
Head torch
Car Air Freshener
Copy of Private Eye
Pack of highlighter pens
USB mini Christmas lights
Knitted Santa hat
