Gift ideas for autistic dd (18)

My dd isn’t girly at all so clothes, perfume, makeup are non starters. She just loves art, writing, had a 3d printer which stopped working so I’m loathe to buy again, she’s into candle making and has a lot of kit but I wondered if I could get something on another level of this type of craft. My dd likes Dr Who but has all the books, Lego etc. Any other ideas are most welcome, thanks.

I know I put it into the subject heading but my dd is autistic too.

Dr Who scarf? Nice writing set or caligraphy?

Would your daughter (or you) like colouring or diamond painting? If she (or you) get anxious, I recommend a pop it or two

If she is into writing, maybe a nice fancy notebook and pen

I know she’s not girly, I’m not either but would she like hand cream, especially to protect her hands in the winter months. You can get unscented if that will be an issue with her autism because I know smells can be a sensory issue

Depending on what happened with the 3d printer, instead of buying a new one, could you get it fixed or buy her a 3d pen?

I agree with @hiredandsqueak, some of the grown up Lego! That's what I have bought my 18yo autistic DD, along with board games and craft kits. A felting kit from Etsy was a big hit last year. Also some good noise cancelling headphones have been used all year.
You say not into clothes, but I buy variations on a black t-shirt each year depending on her latest interest.

What sort of space/budget?

Potter's wheel?

Mydoghealsmyheart · 20/11/2023 16:59

They’re all amazing ideas, thanks everyone. I will have a look online later.

Budget of £150 but that’s the upper limit. I can either buy one big present or several smaller ones.

Would she like Bath bomb or soapmaking kit? Might be a way to make gifts for any family members she likes (a way of showing them rather than spending lots of social time with them iyswim?).
Alcohol inks, waterbrush pens, watercolour paper, book(s) about art journaling, ceramic paints and some plain ceramics to decorate (they should work on glass too so can get candle holders to paint on) etc.

My dd is the same age with ASD, severe language delay. She’s getting….

Lego insects
oodie
minature dolls house kit (cat cafe)
A wooden puzzle kit
Posca pens
Sketch books

She really wants an accordion from flying tiger 😬
The wooden puzzle kits are great, she saw this one in a local garden centre and I managed to get it on Amazon half price last week, she had the marble run wooden puzzle last year and it was a big hit.

She may love this company who make beautiful light projectors. I can vouch for the Galaxy one - it turns DD's room into a lovely cozy sensory room filled with soft colours.

The company gave me a referral code too. Use it if it helps you x

If she likes making candles would she enjoy painting the ones she has made? I
You can get candle paint pens (wax based) or I think you can use water based acrylic paint and a brush (maybe have a look online and check to make sure I have that right so they are safe to burn!)
