Happyland or Little People?

My DD is only 6 months so a little young to start on the big small world toy sets yet but we were with some friends this morning and she became quite attached to a few little people/happy land animal figures. I think it was because they're the perfect size for little hands with friendly faces.

I was thinking it'd be nice to get her a set of figures for her stocking and then maybe a play set for her 1st birthday. But which is best? Happy land or little people? Are they compatible enough to be mix the sets? Is one better for slightly younger children?

I’m nostalgic thinking of those. My girls loved both and we had houses, shops and sets galore. They are both lovely, you won’t go wrong with either

Absolutely loved happy land here. I just sold loads of it last Christmas. It got so much play over the years from all 3 dc, dc3 was 8 when I finally sold it on.

I'd say happyland & you can usually pick it up second hand from marketplace etc too

Holztiger or Ostheimer? No plastic.

@stargirl1701 I will almost definitely be buying it 2nd hand so the plastic has already been produced. These are really sturdy sets that last many sets of children, not flimsy throw away thin plastic. Beyond a few special things, nearly everything DD has from us is 2nd hand and we plan to continue that.

Interestingly there was also Lanka Kade figures in the mix and DD was not much interested in them and certainly not smiling/hugging/clutching them like the happyland/little people. Wooden figures have their place with children but I'm not sure you'd find many babies/toddlers who would prefer the muted tones of them to happyland/little people.

When I've been looking I've just seen Playmobil 123 as well. Has anyone had experience of both? How does it compare to happyland/little people?

Happyland all the way 🙂
I'm a childminder and some of our sets and figures have been played with for 20 + years by multiple children and still look as good as new

Happyland is adorable.

Playmobil is for older kids. Mine ignored the sets they were given as they'd already moved over to Duplo / Lego.

Sorry, realised I'd never heard of Playmobil 123.

Happy land over little people everyday, there’s no much more in the range, the plastic is better on the happy land than the playmobil 123 range. I like playmobil for the older children but for younger ones has to be happy land!
