How to tell what's tat or quality?

I'm always tempted by adverts for toys that show up on my facebook from little independent businesses. I've bought a few things off various ones over the years. Some have been good and some have been extremely poor quality and broken within one or two uses or it's not done what they said they should.

How can I tell the good ones from the bad ones? Often I don't see a reputable companys doing similar items so I can't just use them as inspiration.

Do you have any tips for sussing out quality toys?

I know how to check that they're not a scam but not how to check the quality.

If it’s toys I would stick to a reputable and recognised store to ensure they aren’t one of the cheap and dangerous imports that are brought into the country, with lead paint or whatever, that haven’t passed the safety checks.

Pic attached of the latest one in tempted by. I've not seen it sold by a company that I know of. What do you think?

Sorry...it's not sensitive content I don't know why it says that. It's just a chiks magnetic drawing toy

To me that looks like tat

Quercetti is an excellent brand that does similar to that.

Small parts. Choking hazard. Avoid.

You can get dot books and dot markers easily on amazon that aren't plastic tat (my thoughts on that). Much cheaper available than my pic, but this kind of thing.

I did recently buy some toilet cleaner from a Facebook ad which is incredible though. No scrubbing!!

But you pick and choose. Like not buying things the kids drink from, from market stalls etc. But ads for Disney shop or claires discounts are helpful :)

@KirstenBlest the beads are inside though. It's a magnet not a tweezer in the child's hand.

Amazon have the magnetic drawing toys you put a photo of.

If you have doubts about an advert you see find the company on trustpilot and check their reviews and ratings.

I tend to think that anything that advertises with an ending very soon discount is tat.....and probably not worth the discount ted price let alone more.

I would always search on places like Ali express to see if it's on there - loads of stuff on eBay / Etsy is on the Chinese sites at a much lower price. I also remember going in a clothes shop in Brighton and my daughter recognised half the stuff from China marketplaces - except 5 times the price!
