@WrongSwanson
ice skates?
air track?
Gravitrax has fitted the gap Lego left here (if it was the construction she enjoyed- not so good for small world play!)

Ooh ice skates are a good idea actually, and so is gravitrax! She liked Lego for the construction and the imaginary play, but gravitrax looks good

Part of me is tempted to get them all a bit of Lego, even the teens. There's something quite relaxing about a bit of Lego building over Christmas!

BastardtheCat · 20/11/2023 21:19

I bought this light from my DD - it's absolutely beautiful and turns her room into a starry cavern.

They gave me a referral code for 10% and I believe it's sale time too.

NotFastButFurious · 22/11/2023 14:41

ooh the Horrible Histories board game might solve my problem of needing something else for the nephews. Is it a bit like monopoly (they've got a version of that) or more factual? I think Grandpa might like it too and he's often the one on the receiving end of their board game sessions!

Nothing like monopoly. You are trying to get to the end quickest. Roll the dice, move forward, answer question. If you get it right you move on a bit extra. Chance cards might send you forwards and back.

The questions cover 4 different eras so you sort of progress through history.

Imperfectp3rf3ction · 22/11/2023 18:59

This ^ trying to do 5 Christmas's and 2 birthdays after night no fun

Ceebeegee · 22/11/2023 19:02

Maybe I'm playing the Horrible Histories Board Game wrong because we thought it was a right faff, with the four different booklets. Why aren't the questions just on cards ?

mogtheexcellent · 22/11/2023 19:28

Dd9 has asked for 4 different books and a rainbow high doll. The doll is a bit of a 🤨 as ahe has always hated the weird looking ones. also added a tamagotchi, bookbinder thing, earmuffs and a beanie giraffe for her stocking.

Shes got from us a kids Alexa plus the book for BBC ghosts and a squishmallow.

She also asked for the Game of Life boardgame so a relative is getting that.

Was hoping to buy the latest taylor swift album but noticed one of the songs was called 'slut' so now looking for different music.

ChimpyChops · 22/11/2023 19:36

PurpleStar22 · 23/11/2023 00:20

My DS (11) has asked for a specific hoody and some Lego.

Ive got him some books, new clothes, smellies, a cross body bag, chocolate, a couple of Lego sets and some silly little stocking filled games.

Have you thought about the Adam Kay books? He has 3 kids books and DS absolutely loves them all

MabelMoo23 · 24/11/2023 20:55

my DD is 8 on Christmas Eve and we’ve got her so far

crocs
lava lamp (from Mathmos - only lava lamp safe for kids so doesn’t get too hot and is shatterproof)
wednesday bomber jacket and dress from Zara
Loungefly backpack

but that’s it so far and really struggling!

CoodleMoodle · 24/11/2023 21:50

I'm finished now with DD9! So relieved. She's getting:

Lego Ravenclaw
Lego Vespa bike (the £8.99 one!)
Horrible Histories board game
Boxibos animals

Then she's getting the following to share with DS5:
2x Melissa & Doug reusable sticker books (they love these)
12 piece slime set
New board pens

I wanted to get them a potion set but couldn't find one I thought they'd like so that might be a birthday thing...

DM is getting her a 3D pen and extra filament, DSF a 3D HP Knight Bus set, and PIL two 3D HP sets (Hogwarts and Diagon Alley).

For her stocking she'll get chocolate, a key ring, some costume jewellery from Primark, a bath bomb, maybe some nail polish, probably some sort of fidget toy, little craft set.

SunflowerBaby · 24/11/2023 22:34

My dd is 10 just before Christmas so a mix of birthday and Christmas gifts. Also she's autistic and her special interest is Hello Kitty/Sanrio and also Sylvanian Families hence the masses of both of those! So not sure if this list will actually be helpful to anyone as she's quite specific in her interests...

Her 'big' present is a drum kit from her grandparents. Then we have got her:

Sanrio adidas trainers
Sylvanian annual and sticker book
A couple of Sylvanian figure sets
Hello Kitty perfume from Zara
Pompompurin build-a-bear
Sanrio blanket
A couple of different Sanrio character plushies
Sanrio-themed Switch cover and button covers
Jewellery box
Hello Kitty necklace
Sanrio themed 'Lego' (not official Lego but the same sort of thing)
Heartstopper books
AirUp bottle
Ikea dolls house shelf and furniture (for her Sylvanians Grin)
Jellycat grumpy turtle soft toy
Oodie

@MammaGnomes my DD (10) has a card game called Sussed that would make a good stocking filler.

For those looking at Apple Pencil (or dupe) what is the best digital art app for the iPad? Specifically for an 8 year old! Debating whether a dupe one would be good for my 8 year old

My dd used Ibis Paint to start off with as it's free but you can also buy Procreate for a one-off payment of £12.99. I am a graphic designer so have taught my daughter some bits of how to use Procreate but there's good YouTube tutorials. It's used by a lot of illustrators/designers who use iPads and it's great! Not sure if it might be a bit advanced for her age but if she's keen and interested in learning it might be worth looking at.
