Based off another thread for slightly older that was really helpful, what’s on your list for your 8-11 yr olds? Looking for inspo as find this a hard age to get for!

For my DD9 so far….

  • Books
  • posh Sleep spray set
  • Clothes - jumper and skirts
  • Scrabble
  • Kids against maturity game
  • Jewellery box
  • night time projector
  • Squishmallow

Dd7 ( 8 in a few weeks):
Switch Lite
Switch Game
Stack of books (big cat & cat themed)
necklace
Craft set/friendship bracelet kit
stationery & diary
Big cat soft toy
lip balm set
For her birthday in a few weeks so far:
cosmic lamp
lucky cat for her desk
Giant squishmallow
books.

Ds9 so far:
Switch game
Lego city train set
Star Wars squishmallow (he’s always complaining he doesn’t have any as his sisters do).
Books
Aftershave/Eau de toilette
stationery
just bits to get for his stocking

BettyOBarley · 16/11/2023 20:55

DD (10 next week, so this is a mix of birthday and Christmas from all the family)

Squishmallows
Slime
Giant cat pillow
Fluffy crocs
Ariana Grande body spray
Bubble tea kit
Harry potter terranium
Stitch oodie
Other stitch bits
Earrings
Mini verse
Top model books
Lip balms
Books
Dobby Lego set
Diary
gel pen set
Chocolate pen (which looks rubbish, but she's wanted it for 2 years!)

She's getting a shared Switch with her brother for Xmas as well.

CoodleMoodle · 16/11/2023 20:58

So far DD9 has:
Ravenclaw Lego
London Lego

And that's it! I'm finding her quite difficult to shop for this year, more the "main" present than anything else. I've got an Amazon list of smaller things for her but still need to find one special thing. Her DB is 5 and he's still very easy (Lego and Hot Wheels)... We were considering a basic graphics tablet as she loves drawing/art.

Problem is, she already has an actual tablet (handed down), we own a Switch & PS5 as a family, she's got a scooter and a keyboard (previous main gifts), all the usual things!

asterel · 16/11/2023 21:29

DD 10 is getting:

Giant cat pillow
LED glitter lamp
books
stationery and art notebooks
book nook kit
a couple of board games
glitter crossbody bag
Disco bath light
Instax film

Haven’t yet got her a “big” present, but am delegating that to DP this year! She also already has scooter, bike, tablet, Switch and instax camera so I’m a bit stuck for ideas this year.

fluffynotebook · 16/11/2023 22:02

My youngest DD is 9 and she's getting the following:

Styling head
Books for kindle
Weighted blanket
A couple of horse riding lessons
A skincare set
Electric toothbrush
New backpack
Dobble connect
Ariana Grande perfume

Her main present is a family Merlin pass and I'm going to do a treasure hunt for that with letters to find around the house x

PuttingDownRoots · 16/11/2023 22:09

Note: this is shared between all family members!

Pink Rugby ball
Rugby club hoody
Gryffindor items (bag, water bottle, slippers, hot water bottle)
Quidditch lego
Pot plant lego
Stitch soft toy
Rugby Avery Squishmallow
Personalised travel cup
Instax camera plus voucher for film
Book voucher
Hunger Games books
Dr Who book
How to Be a Scout
Money for Scout trip to Poland
Leggings and jumper
Potions kit

Stocking
Gryffindor hair scrunchie
Tardis and Weeping angel Warhammer-style figures
Stitch lip balm
Bright pink Rugby socks
Sweets
Flower seeds

Xmaswomble · 16/11/2023 22:18

I wish I’d invented squishmallows.

looking at these lists I love how random this age is, by the tweens list they’re all looking similar

OP posts:
starlight2k · 16/11/2023 22:22

The new diary of a wimpy kid book is the only thing on her list, I need some ideas too

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 16/11/2023 22:23

I couldn’t agree more with the randomness of this age range! My niece who is 9 soon would go for most of the above including jewellery, clothing, body sprays and makeup. My dd8.5 has asked for the following:

kinetic sand
rainbow high doll
make your own Pom Pom pets
scruffaluff
squishmallow
pokemon cards
minecraft lego
bluey dolls house and figurines
pokemon onesie
fluffy slippers
baby doll highchair
Mouse mama surprise

Secnarf · 17/11/2023 00:17

My 8 year old says she has no idea what she wants for Christmas as she has everything she needs. Very sweet, but not helpful!

I’ve been trying to compile a list which has to cover present from parents, stocking and suggestions for family members who will ask

So far this is what I’ve got on the list:
ticket to Sleeping Beauty (already purchased)
dance school tracksuit
lego dots pen pot and boxes
Tee shirt with glow in the dark panel you can write on
glow in the dark message board
Running snood
craft kits
modern leotard
maybe some jewelled hairpins for festivals

stocking will include book, beanie boo toy, socks, ballet shoes, satsuma and chocolate coins as these appear every year. One of the Lego dots kits will come with them.

and otherwise we hit a blank

So I am watching this thread with interest!

Would appreciate any other suggestions as well. She likes ballet, acro, football, piano and running. She has lovely books about dance, including the stories of the major ballets. She already has footballs, a goal, cones, boot buddy and all the kit she needs. She has a wobble board and foot roller.

I think she might like a barre or an air track. However, we are hoping to convert the garage next year, so these would be more appropriate for her birthday.

May I ask how you decided on what weight to choose for her weighted blanket? I want to get DD (9 in Jan) the Barbie Oodie one but there's 2 or 3 weights to choose from 🤯

Mountainhowl · 17/11/2023 15:58

F@fluffynotebook

I was looking into merlin passes because they have a sale on.
However trust pilot reviews are quite poor saying there are limited tickets available even for platinum holders..
Have you had a better experience please

DarkRainyNovember · 19/11/2023 08:47

@Ophy83 are able to link to that bundle I've just had a quick search and can't find it

DarkRainyNovember · 19/11/2023 08:49

@Xmaswomble aren't squish mallows just "cushions"??
