Based off another thread for slightly older that was really helpful, what’s on your list for your 8-11 yr olds? Looking for inspo as find this a hard age to get for!

For my DD9 so far….

  • Books
  • posh Sleep spray set
  • Clothes - jumper and skirts
  • Scrabble
  • Kids against maturity game
  • Jewellery box
  • night time projector
  • Squishmallow

Just ordered the Horrible Histories board game based on this thread, so thanks to whoever mentioned it!

F@fluffynotebook

I was looking into merlin passes because they have a sale on.
However trust pilot reviews are quite poor saying there are limited tickets available even for platinum holders..
Have you had a better experience please

Oh really... do you mean dates when platinum holders can go? As I checked the website the other day and I thought they could go whenever. X

StrawberryWater · 19/11/2023 13:41

DS9 is getting:

Main presents:
Kindle Fire Max 11
Keyboard

Other bits:
Squishmellow
Books
A couple of board games (no idea what yet as he has loads so need to get creative)
Bath stuff and smellies
A snuggle blanket / hoody thing

He only really has us buying for him so I need to get him one more big present so it'll probably be Lego.

Icedblondelatte · 19/11/2023 13:49

DS 9

  • Lego Castle
  • snap circuits
  • Pokemon plush
  • diary of a wimpy kid book
  • bear shaped tin of Lindt chocolate where you can select the chocolates you want to fill it with
  • Lego Viking village

  • marbling craft kit
  • Harry Potter chocolate frog/jelly beans
  • exploding kittens board game

We have it too. it's great.

The only thing I don't like about it is the booklets. I wish the questions were on cards.

idontlikealdi · 19/11/2023 13:57

When Dts were 10 we got them an overnight stay at Chessington as the main present and then some smaller bits. They weren't and still aren't into gaming at all otherwise it would have been a switch.

Countmeout · 19/11/2023 15:02

Could someone link the weighted Barbie throw please? Are there any other themes?

RK800 · 19/11/2023 15:18

@fluffynotebook do you mind me asking which styling head you got / are getting? Looking for one for DD9, ideally one she can use for hair and makeup. Amazon have a loads but you can never be sure of the quality. Thanks! 🙂

DarkRainyNovember · 19/11/2023 16:05

@fluffynotebook.. Sorry, before I got mine I did some research.
I found trust pilot people saying they struggled to book the dates they wanted with any pass, even platinum because they only release a certain amount of dates for merlin pass holders. Eg alton towers has 200 day tickets available, 30 are reserved for merlin pass holders. People reporting that they struggled to book.

It put me off but that was my research you or someone else may have more positive feedback.

Ceebeegee · 19/11/2023 16:13

My DS is 10, 11 in mid December.

Birthday is a phone (his first phone ) and also a chromebook (got a phone and chromebook package )

Xmas is :

  • F1 xbox game
  • Star wars travel mug
  • Finger skate board
  • squishy ball
  • bunny v monkey book
  • New school backpack

Hes really into milkshakes at the moment so I may do a DIY milkshakes kit with the various supplies (marshmallows and powders ) available from B and M / Home Bargains / Supermarkets

tealthread · 19/11/2023 17:20

I’ve seen giant cat pillows mentioned a couple of times: tell me more please, they sound perfect for my DD!

She’s 10 and has put on her wish list:
Rainbow High dolls
A scruff a luv
Air up bottle
A cat teddy

Countmeout · 19/11/2023 18:40

@fluffynotebook can you point me to the weighted Barbie blanket please.? My gd has an old one that needs replaced.

I think they are from Mewaii but have a search for “long cat plush pillow” on Amazon and they will surely pop up! They are like a cat soft toy body pillow. I got one earlier in the autumn on a decent deal, well under £20. (I wouldn’t pay loads for them!)

Thanks, my DD will love those! I’ve found one that looks like our cat from a different brand. Reviews are hit and miss but it’s worth a shot at just over £10 for a smaller one.

Dorriethelittlewitch · 19/11/2023 21:49

Ds (8) wants

A replica Lewis Chess set
A "good" RC car
Some Mexican Crisps
Some Japanese sweets
Something large and cuddly
To try snorkeling somewhere with fish

WrongSwanson · 19/11/2023 21:54

DD (10 ) doesn't have any ideas (other than "anything from Claire's" ) so am hoping this thread will inspire me.

Claire's stuff and colouring books /diaries etc will sort out the stocking fillers but it's a big gift I'm lost on

She has rollerskates , a bike , a scooter, iPad etc . She used to love Lego but doesn't really play with it at the moment .

She loves dancing and acting so have bought her tickets for a west end musical but that's not till later in the year. Am stuck for ideas for "things".

stinkingbishop · 19/11/2023 22:27

DTDs(11). Really struggling this year too! Both have said they have everything they need and want, so no ideas...Holding out on phones till next year. They have sooooo many books already on their 'to read' piles.

So far (split between us and Santa):
Animal Dobble
Uno Flip
Mushroom kit
Ball launcher for the dog
Pair of chirping Guinea pigs from Chatsworth (very realistic!)
Pandora charms (they both have bracelets)
Bubble tea kit
Will probably get a couple of Zara outfits each.
One is getting a fox experience at a nearby wildlife park, will do something similar for the other
Pyjamas
Drinks bottles
Fairy lights for their room
Vintage bird cages with realistic turtle doves for their room
A giant Highland cow head (obvs not real!) to go on their wall

All a bit random, as are they, delightfully so!!!

GoatsareGOAT · 20/11/2023 01:37

@WrongSwanson
ice skates?
air track?
Gravitrax has fitted the gap Lego left here (if it was the construction she enjoyed- not so good for small world play!)

notahincheratall · 20/11/2023 02:18
Cake
CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 20/11/2023 08:01

8yo Dd

Olivia Rodrigo tickets
Apple Pencil
Squishmallow
stitch stuff (oodie, clothes, iPad holder)

Heelys
A pumpkin spiced latte (not sure how I'll manage this one yet)
Slush machine

CoodleMoodle · 20/11/2023 11:48

DD has finally found something she'd like - one of those 3D pens. We're trying to find the best one as if it doesn't work well she'll get frustrated.

So I'm going down the craft basket/trolley idea! Going to get her a scrapbook, some nice paper, glue dots, ribbons, nice stickers/embellishments, her own scissors and sellotape, ruler, stencils, sketchbook and pencils, etc. All from Poundland, The Works, B&M, Hobbycraft and The Range I imagine! Then we'll add the 3D pen to that and it should make a nice present for her. I hope!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 20/11/2023 11:55

The range have some nice craft things in. My dd8 saw some lovely kawaii colouring packs yesterday so I’ll pick those up for our Christmas box to keep her busy over December.
