Lego set - buy today at nearly full price or wait until Black Friday?

I want to get DD a specific Lego set. RRP is £70. Lego website says 'last chance' which I'm guessing means they're retiring the set.

Money is tight so I'd like to save if possible. It's on Amazon for £61 but I'd rather buy from anywhere but Amazon. I've previously bought from Toy Street but it's out of stock on there.

I'm just wondering if I wait for Black Friday whether actual shops like John Lewis or Hamley's might reduce the price or whether by messing around waiting I risk not managing to get it at all.

Which set is it?

wishingchair1 · 15/11/2023 10:25

Can you share which set?
do you use camel camel?

wishingchair1 · 15/11/2023 10:27

posted too soon. Camel camel is a app that tracks Amazon items to see price changes. It will give you a indication of how low it might go.

It's 41703

I hadn't heard of the Camel app...

@Scottishdeal Thanks - I saw this earlier but it's out of stock. Really kicking myself that I didn't look last week!

If she’s asked for that specific set then I would buy it, if she hasn’t asked for it then I would wait for Black Friday as there’s often Lego friends sets on offer (Amazon, smyths, Tesco etc..). I paid full price for a set for dd but it’s a set that I could only find on the Lego website and was worried it would sell out and it’s one she had asked for.

There's a few on eBay - one is "as new" but just a damaged box.
To be honest - I would get from Amazon if that's the cheapest.
Unfortunately it's an old set so most shops won't have it in stock anymore.

INeedNewShoes · 15/11/2023 11:41

I think I might just get it now otherwise I risk spending hours looking over the next few weeks which is silly.

@INeedNewShoes definitely get it while you can. It's being "retired" at the end of the year so most stock will have been and gone unfortunately.

You can also easily check lego prices on brickwatch (there must be other sides as well). This set has been on offer at smyths etc. regularly, so I wouldn't buy it for the RRP.

INeedNewShoes · 15/11/2023 11:54

Thanks everyone - I've just bought it on Amazon.

Last chance usually just means retiring at the end of year, not next week just fyi

Needmorelego · 15/11/2023 11:58

@Bells3032 yes but that's only 6 weeks time. That set is the old style Friends (they rebooted) so all stock made will have been distributed out to retailers and sold ages ago.

If you have bought from amazon and you see it go down at black friday, you could return the original one.
