Usually a dividing topic in real life.

I know some whom prefer the classic simple white only lights and some whom prefer multi colour.

We are multicolour. Preferably with pink mixed in.

Multicolour on the tree but white everywhere else!

Houseplanter · 14/11/2023 20:37

I love multicoloured but am outvoted every year

frozendaisy · 14/11/2023 20:38

Good point @tshirthunter I should have been more specific

Tree lights I was referring to.

I love white. DH and DS like multi-coloured. We have both apart from "my" tree which is white only!

Gardeningtime · 14/11/2023 20:38

I prefer warm white to be honest.

Etincelle · 14/11/2023 20:39

I liked coloured but have got friends and family who like white so I put a string of each on the tree and take it in turns

Iwant2beJessicaFletcher · 14/11/2023 20:41

I've got 2 trees so have a different set on each. Warm white in the 6 foot main tree in the lounge, multi colour in the 7 foot tree in the family room. Trees decorated very differently in keeping with their lights. I love it!

mondaytosunday · 14/11/2023 20:43

I agree with you - growing up we had multicoloured lights (with pink and orange!). But my kids (teens) like warm white. I can usually sneak a couple strings of red berry lights.
This year we are away so having a small tree (rather than the usual 8ft). I've ordered old fashion multicoloured lights (as linked by a poster on another thread). It's my way this year kids.

stepintochristmas1 · 14/11/2023 20:44

I have them all , it's Christmas . The one time of year you can have all the colours everywhere .

Alltheyearround · 14/11/2023 20:45

Multicolour all the way!

I tried white pine cones but ended up giving them to brother in law who is a fairy light fanantic and has quite a collection. At least someone liked them!

gluenotsoup · 14/11/2023 20:51

On the main tree - warm white/ gold lights ony.
On little tree is different room- children’s homemade decorations - colourful, retro style lights with pink, orange, soft green etc.
No harsh red/ blue led type lights, I don’t like them

ButtonDownBev · 14/11/2023 20:56

We've had warm white since I've been an adult with my own home/tree.
I think rebelling against the memories of my childhood tree with multicolour lights and mismatched baubles (even though I adored it as a child)
But last year (and again this year) I am heavily toying with the idea of ditching my current 'tasteful' white lights and going full 90's multicolour fabulousness. Haven't made my mind up yet 😂

DuploTrain · 14/11/2023 20:59

I like multicoloured or white. However, the white must be warm. And I don’t like blue in the multicoloured.. blue is just not a Christmassy colour.

Wanttobeok · 14/11/2023 21:01

White. Always. But warm white not the bight white ones that look almost blue.

PinkBuffalo · 14/11/2023 21:03

I love multicolour lights 🎄🎄🎄

APocketOfGooseFood · 14/11/2023 21:05

I went to warm white for the tree for a few years, because I love them everywhere else and they somehow felt more sophisticated and grown up, but they just didn’t have the magic of my childhood trees, which I always hark back to. So I’ve gone back to multicoloured on the tree, and kept the warm white everywhere else. I love as many lights as I can accommodate at Christmas!

DogLegMotor · 14/11/2023 21:05

I have just bought a set of lights that allows you to choose a mix of multicoloured lights, all one colour ie red, green, orange, blue, yellow etc or white. They are not on the tree yet but have plugged them in to test them. That way you can change the lights to whatever colour you want. These are for the children's trees in another room. My main tree has warm white.

Iheartpizza · 14/11/2023 21:26

Yep multicolour here too. Although ours only have green, red, yellow and blue. I feel like there should be more!

itsmyp4rty · 14/11/2023 21:29

We go for all option! A 20 year old fake green tree with colourful lights, a real tree with warm white lights and a silver tree with white lights.

@DogLegMotor where were these from? Sound just what I need!

piscofrisco · 14/11/2023 21:36

I have got around this by having two trees. One a very bright slightly eccentric one, and one classic with white lights and matching tasteful decs.

SgtJuneAckland · 14/11/2023 21:36

We have multi coloured and white on the tree, not the bright neon colours, the traditional ones (hard to find last time I tried to replace) and warm white everywhere else

Blanketpolicy · 14/11/2023 21:38

Traditional multicolour. Red, green, gold, blue mixed. No pinks, purples, neon blues.

white is too stark/cold in winter for me.

Floralnomad · 14/11/2023 21:40

We always had multi then got a new prelit tree and I’m now happy with white - on all the trees ( we have 3 ) .

Jasmin1971 · 14/11/2023 21:42

Warm white, no flashing.
