Suspect this has come from you tube?! No idea why he has it in his head so firmly. Any suggestions for a perfume/cologne (hilariously he is calling it cologne) for a 9 year old that will make him feel grown up without ponging too much/costing too much?!
TIA

Make friends with your local department store staff and get lots of free samples for his Christmas stocking. Then he can experiment - and you can offer him a full bottle of his favourite, or better still, a subscription to somewhere like Bloom, for his 10th birthday.

I look forward to purchasing his first perfume release in 15 or 20 years!

Thank you! Samples or small kits a very good idea, thank you. Bloom looks amazing - I want it never mind DS 😂

That's so cute, I remember at that age getting my first bottle of Tammy Girl and feeling oh so grown up 😃

I would get either the themed bottles you can pick up from Boots or Superdrug (there's a Storm Trooper one for example), Next do mini sprays for boys which you can put in school bags etc.

If you want an actual Man's fragrance, I would recommend Versace's Dreamer as it's absolutely lovely but quite light, and you can usually pick up bottles for £20 at this time of year. Same with Davidoff Cool Water.

My brother's liked Jupe when they were younger if that still exists!!!

Next do some nice boys fragrances, not to expensive and not too strong!

SisterMichaelsHabit · 13/11/2023 11:22

Avon do cheap smellies. My DS has their Spiderman Cologne (it smells like bubble bath) that was a couple of quid.

snazzychair · 13/11/2023 11:25

The David Beckham ones - eau de toillete rather than parfum. Usually on offer in Boots

NotLactoseFree · 13/11/2023 11:26

Boots usually do packs of mini combo sets. I have bought those for DS as a stocking present in the past.

BoohooWoohoo · 13/11/2023 11:28

Agree with the David Beckhams but I also saw some Ted Baker ones that looked reasonably priced.

TotalOverhaul · 13/11/2023 11:32

Bless him. Encourage it! Boys can get a hormone surge at around that age which makes their sweat quite pungent. But please don't buy Lynx. It is horrific for asthma sufferers.

Hollister SoCal is lovely. Zara men does a range for about £12.99 and M&S do some good ones for under £10.

TeslaTwat · 13/11/2023 11:37

Another who thinks this is super cute! Joop (available from b&m) is a good starter. Older people who wear it get teased tho.

There are loads of places that have replica scents for less money. I'm a fan of Poundland for male scents. For example they had a paco rabanne 1 million replica called millionaire. They just don't last as long which is probably a good thing if he douses himself in it

Sugarfree23 · 13/11/2023 11:46

I've just googled,
Spiderman in The Perfume Shop, Hulk in Boots, if you want proper kids ones. 😀
Boots also have Ted Baker, and Body Shop has Blue Musk.

Brilliant- I love it. I'm always moaning that tween girls are much easier to buy for than tween boys.

Underparmummy · 13/11/2023 11:51

Thank you so much all! I think the themed kids ones might not work as I think the aim is feeling grown up. Off to look at Ted Baker, Davidoff and David Beckham (he loves football so this might work!).

I agree, now that he is (mostly) past plastic rubbish he is much harder than his sisters to buy for. There are only so many footballs and football shirts he can use!

Versace Blue Jeans seems to be the starter cologne round here 😬

user1483387154 · 13/11/2023 11:53

Cool water by davidoff is a lovely light scent . my son uses it on special occasions.

Fawbs89 · 13/11/2023 11:56

The David Beckgam ones are super nice, my partner whereas thwm and very cheap.

MammaTo · 13/11/2023 14:48

Zara do kids ones that are quite nice.

VoldemortsKitten · 13/11/2023 15:06

Both my sons, 9 and 11 call after shave cologne 😂 it's def a YouTube thing and has made me chuckle. They currently only wear lynx deodorant. There are certainly some more funky lynxes out there now compared to 90s/noughties - one was called Leather and Cookies. Actually smelled ok!

VoldemortsKitten · 13/11/2023 15:07

Oh yes yes to Davidoff Cool Water that's a lovely light scent. I may get one for my 11yo.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 13/11/2023 15:11

Next do some nice ones

TheGander · 25/12/2023 17:26

Just reviving this as DS17 has told me today he was hoping for some cologne. This must definitely be off social media. He wants it for NYE. I was thinking of a bottle of 4711, shows how old I am.
