Stocking ideas for older teens/young adults?

Titsywoo · 11/11/2023 21:47

I have a 16 year old DS (very into coding etc) and 19 year old DD (at uni and into Taylor Swift and crocheting). They are both getting money as their big present as there is nothing they really want. I do want to give them a few things to open on the day though so want to do a stocking for each of them.

What sort of things are you buying your older kids?

DS will get gym membership if I can find one that will take him solo at 15.

For stocking presents - chocolate Santa, first shaving stuff, Waterstones voucher, Christmas socks, some sort of a puzzle, gym kit.

mylittleprince · 12/11/2023 08:11

@MintJulia try your local council leisure centre for gym membership, they are the only ones that would take DS at 15. I think it's because under 16 they need to be supervised and most of the private ones don't have same level of staff.

pizzaHeart · 12/11/2023 08:15

@GrangeFill where did you get handbag perfume dispenser from?

luckylavender · 12/11/2023 08:37

Book, pen, blu tack, socks, t shirt, stationery, nail varnish, body spray, key ring, alcohol
Minis, soap, chocolate, haribos, resusable tote bag, bath bomb, underwear.

MyCircumference · 12/11/2023 08:42

coffee voucher
tea bags
face mask
hand cream

Just Amazon or Temu or whoever. Put refillable perfume atomiser in search

Britneyfan · 12/11/2023 11:53

@MintJulia do you have a David Lloyd near you? They will let them go to the gym independently from age 14 on.

For my 21 year old ds stocking this year I have:
Mens L'occitane shower gel
Cerave face wash
Back scratcher
Eyebrow grooming kit
Fairisle socks
Dupe for Eau Savage
Posh chocs
Flat-pack 'Old fashioned' cocktail
Choc orange
Mint matchmakers (alwayd had these)
Bath bomb
Engraved key ring
Hot chocolate bomb
PJ bottoms

He loves his stocking and doesn't really ask for anything else so I tend to spend more on this than the main present.

theveryhungrybum · 12/11/2023 12:32

Our stockings are pretty much the same every year, but we all love opening them:

  • socks
  • underwear
  • PJs
  • a nice t-shirt
  • a silly t-shirt (this year they are all Barbie themed)
  • toothbrush and toothpaste
  • chocolate
  • shower gel
  • toiletries
PurplePositivity · 12/11/2023 12:33

I have DSs aged 17 & 19, they are getting me paying for their SIM cards for another year, upgraded sock & pants, deodorant, aftershave, Teddy duvet sets (very excited about these, the cat will love them!), sweets, pjs and any other food products I come across. One will get money & the other owes me money so I'll cross the equivalent off the outstanding balance. He won't be happy but welcome to the real world, mate!

What is the Eau Sauvage dupe called and where can I get some please?

Wanttobeok · 12/11/2023 19:42

For the Taylor Swift obsessed one Etsy have some nice stuff.

Some personalised TS bookmarks, Taylors version slippers, an Eras tour Starbucks cup and what about any of the Taylors version albums on CD or Vinyl (unless they have them all)

DontCallMeBaby · 12/11/2023 20:19

Last year (18, first year uni);

White chocolate orange
Chocolate snowballs
Coaster, mug, tea towel (all home-town-themed from a Xmas market)
White hot choc
2 x iced/hot coffee
Pringles
Pens
Socks
Tights (can’t remember if they were Snag opaques, or M&S sheers)
Colin Caterpillar candy canes

Lots of sweet stuff!

This year things that have just gone in the grocery order:

Burt's Bees Pink tinted lip balm
Posh hot choc capsules for the dolce gusto coffee machine she’s just inherited
Salted caramel Lindor

Further ideas:
Prime (I think I saw a glow in the dark one in Sainsbury’s 🤔)
Replacement heads for her Dishmatic 😂

She’s kind of hard to buy for as she’s not hugely into clothes or beauty stuff (does nail art but is a bit off it at the moment and has LOADS of stuff anyway), only drinks a little, not a big reader etc. And I don’t want to buy her loads of STUFF as it’ll all end up in storage next year when she’s abroad.

Openmouthinsertfood · 12/11/2023 20:56

Etsy and Amazon have some nice patterned crochet hooks. Does she have storage for her crochet items too?

She has a small bag for her yarn. Will look at the patterned hooks thanks!

I have just made my crochet loving young adult a big sack and filled it with some wool… so she has her own ‘stash’
she is also getting pjs, crochet books, socks, slippers, choc, vit tablets etc
