My niece and Sister-in-law live abroad and next year they will be coming to Scotland to visit us for the first time. My niece is just turning 10 and this trip will be her first time on a plane and her first time leaving her country.
I'm trying to think of nice gifts for DN that could tie in with this.
I'm thinking a purse with a decent amount of £s inside so she has spending money when she is here.
Maybe a travel neck pillow (it's a 5 hour night time flight)
Any other ideas that would be suitable for this age?

wireless earphones. You can get them for around £15 from amazon. Maybe check on their luggage allowance, if they have the underseat allowance they won't fit loads to take back. I think the purse and money is the best idea, so they can enjoy shopping.
Perhaps a little hamper in her room if she is staying with you of local snacks, toiletries etc depending where they are travelling from. Have fun!

Non-childish wash bag with some toileteries
Wireless headphone

I like the idea of purse and money

A little travel guide

A magazine or small craft set for the airport?
You can get cool hooded neck pillows for kids (Dunelm and Primark and Smiggle do them)

A disposable camera, of budget depending an Instax one with a little album and fancy pen to document her trip!

Check about sending cash. It’s illegal to send currency to certain countries, and even where it’s not illegal it’s not usually recommended.

At that age I went to Florida and one of the best memories was getting a little travel kit on the Virgin Atlantic flight.

It was a plastic ziplock case with a sleeping mask, pair of slipper socks, travel toothbrush and paste, colouring set and stickers and a thin very well folded blanket. Me and my brothers loved those little cases and repacked and saved them for the flight home only to be given another set.

I don't know why they were so fantastic really but as a 10yr old it felt really special.

So I'd do a little set like that.
