Hi All,

I wondered if anyone would like to make some suggestions of gifts for a very close family member. LK if your reading this go away!

So family member is a mid 30s woman. A bit of a home body, enjoys quiet nights at home with the dogs. Loves dogs particularly greyhounds and does a good bit of walking as a result.

Enjoys readying historical fiction and fantasy but mostly on kindle so books are kind of out.

Massive Harry Potter fan but not looking for anything garishly Harry Potter. But maybe something more subtle?

Likes food and to bake bread but is trying to drop some weight so don't want to go too heavy on this theme.

That's all I can think of for now but will post if I think of anything else.

So gift ideas from the above? In the £40-£60 mark. One gift or multiple small gift suggestions welcome.

Owl flying experience?

DaizenShine · 07/11/2023 10:57

Maybe an Oodie? There's lots on sale between £40-50 at the moment. You mind even find a greyhound themed one!

Good socks or hat/gloves for dog walking. Sealskinz or merino wool. They're not cheap but definitely worth it, I would hugely appreciate this as a dog lover.

A cocopup bag with accessories - https://cocopuplondon.com/collections/dog-walking-bag

Harry Potter pyjamas (I recently got some from tesco) or tickets to the Warner Bros studio tour.

Er... Is your friend me? That could be me 🤣

The owl flying experience a pp mentioned would be amazing, I might even drop some hints to DH.

Also second good dog walking socks, especially Welly socks, I don't half go through them.

Sponsor a greyhound in her name? Lots of rescues have ones that can't be rehomed and need long term care that you can sponsor, you get little cards and notes and photos from them, it's very sweet.

Not sure if that’s showing my name and address, will edit!

Aargh can’t edit. Have reported! Sorry!

Anyway I was trying to suggest a MinaLima edition of a Harry Potter book. They are beautiful collectors items, with illustrations and pullouts etc.

There’s only three out so far, this is the first one. I’ve linked to the website because Amazon has my details on the link but it’s much cheaper on Amazon!

Could be a Harry Potter calendar (something like this) or you can make a picture calendar with photos of her dogs and print it out.
Haven't heard of owl flying experiences before but googled it and it looks AMAZING! Definitely consider this!
Also you can make a Christmas collage instead of a card and use Christmas scenes from Harry Potter and other movies she likes.
There are a bunch of cookbooks based on movies, so could be a Harry Potter one or LOTR one or Game of thrones', etc, depending on what series she likes.

Was a little more expensive, but I bought my baking-loving son a subscription to a bread baking site, where they sent you ingredients every month and you baked your own - bread, crumpets, various types of loaf.

@PostPopper what a beautiful looking edition of the book! Thanks for posting.

OP does she like Lego? I think there are some lovely Harry Potter themed Lego sets (I like the Hedwig one!)
