Best sponsorship present

My MIL is a woman who has everything she needs/wants and is very particular about material possessions. We’d like to buy her a sponsorship of an animal or child as we think she’d love to get regular updates and she will be so happy to know that others are benefitting in her name.
Does anyone know of a sponsorship scheme for an animal or a child where you get specific and regular updates about how they’re getting on?

We sponsor a little girl with PLAN and get regular updates. I started this when DM died, in her memory.

I also sponsor a child with Plan, and probably get a couple of updates a year. I have been doing it for over 20 years, and you used to be able to send gifts (I remember sending a small doll), but now it is restricted to things that will fit into an A4 envelope, so stickers, colouring book etc.
This isn't what you asked, but I buy my parents a weekly entry into a local charity draw. Used to be the local hospice, now the local air ambulance. They did once win £750, and a smaller prize (£50?) as well. Might be of interest, although I don't think they get updates.

For an animal, the Sheldrick Trust is lovely elephants. Recently visited by HRH King Charles and Queen Camilla!

They have a great Instagram page and provide a monthly email update on the elephants. They take orphan elephants and raise them through to adulthood.
