Hey, for the last couple of years ive found it so hard to find anything for my granny’s Christmas, shes mostly blind, deaf as a doornail, and isnt mobile at all. We normally go safe with a lovely bunch of flowers, a vase and her favourite sweets etc. I just really want to do something different for her but i just really really need some ideas to work from to help. Any ideas are absolutely welcome please and thank you

A reed diffuser to make her room smell nice?

Soft fluffy socks?

Hand cream?

For my 92yr old gran I usually get:
Photos of my boys made into a nice magnet or picture book
Bottle of sherry
Nice book

I'm sure your gran would like an afternoon tea you could order to her house and you or a friend could join her?
Can she see more than she can hear? Maybe a large print book?

Fluffy socks are a nope, makes her feet too hot, and she could literally sell hand cream 😂

A reed diffuser is a good shout though, thank you 😃

Her eyes are ears are equally bad, shes no space for any more photos, i thought maybe about a photo blanket but im the black sheep of the family since my dad and brother passed away, so i really dont want to be including the "fam" in our present (me and my son)

How about a new soft cushion.

Or if she likes reminiscing a you to me book is a great way to record all her life. Lots of questions to prompt her even if she doesn't want to write it herself.

Memory foam pillow or v-shaped cushion of some kind

Indoor potted plant arrangement or big houseplant

Little hamper of nice biscuits, fruit cake etc

Charity donation in her name

Can you give her your time?
Just you and her, asking about her life... you say she is really deaf but sometimes a single voice is better understood than several competing ...as long a conversation as she wants.... nice afternoon tea simple dainty sandwiches, biscuits, wee cakes..... you can give her a manicure or even better a hand and foot massage afterwards.
Older people dont really want or need more stuff. And even a bunch of flowers need 'looked after'. But 1 - 2 - 1 time with somebody they love is very special.

I was gifted a jo Malone diffuser which must have been very expensive but it's absolutely gorgeous and has lasted for ages. It's the lime basil and mandarin one. I never thought about diffusers before but will have to replace it when it goes as it's divine.

Her favourite sweets

More sweets or chocolate

More of your time

Could you find out one of her favourite songs from when she was young and play it to her? I know if my dad were alive he’d be wowed that technology was advanced so much that he could hear a song or see a film he’d never be able to find otherwise? (Depending on her hearing!)

I’ve given up getting a main present for my 90 yr old Mum and now give her a stocking with lots of smaller value things that I know she’ll use. She looks forward to receiving it and as it’s quite stretchy, it can hold a lot. Previous presents include:
perfume
patterned emery boards
hair nets in bright colours
norwegian hand cream (far better than fancy stuff)
radox bubble bath
fancy soaps
vintage pattern shower cap (tkMaxx and well received)
turtle dove gloves (well used)
lap blanket
lightweight fleece for over the bed
tray of toffee
walkers tub of eclairs or mixed toffees or mints
tin of biscuits
genoa or fruit cake
earings
lipstick
day and night wrinkle cream
Edinburgh woollen Mill tops and cardigan
thermal vests or base layers
walnut whips
stuffed dates
reed diffusers
bottle of snowball
soft wide top pop socks for elderly
silk pillow case
colourful knickers
scarf
preserves
powder puff talc
Small pocket size magnifying glass (used daily)

It may not seem exciting but she doesn’t want stuff and would prefer things that she can use. Any mugs, t towels, or other unsuitable and not needed stuff received usually comes my way after Christmas!
Other gadgets used most days and possible presents:
talking clock
talking watch
simple radio
patterned walking stick
