I love stocking threads so thought I would do my own! My DS has a small ish stocking but I pack it full (take things out of packaging) and sometimes have things spilling out 😂 it’s not big enough for pjs etc so it tends to be all little toys that I know he will like.

Mario cards (preloved vinted)
lego letter keyring (Etsy)
bath bomb
choc coins
Fun socks
fact tape measure (wicked uncle)
tonie (mr strong)
worlds smallest slinky
worlds smallest microscope
worlds smallest rubix cube
switch game holder
stikman and dog figure (preloved vinted)
axolotl squishy (Etsy)
lego block keyring
Magnet balls
korok seed figures (3d printed from Etsy that I will have to paint, from Zelda switch game)
plastic gems (he loves to play with little things like this)

Please give me your suggestions and let me know if you like any of my ideas too!

He'll be a very happy 7 year old

HappiDaze · 05/11/2023 14:41

I'd add the obligatory chocolate coins too

ForeverYellow · 05/11/2023 14:41

For me it’s not a Christmas stocking f without one of those big cardboard tubes of smarties . I never buy them any other time , now I think about it .

CyberCritical · 05/11/2023 14:48

Satsuma and some nuts in the toe and that looks like it's a finished stocking to me.

Ownerofmultiplechimps · 05/11/2023 19:56

My similar aged ds would love that, my usual aim for stockings is a mix of sweets & little playthings like you’ve described so they can be kept busy so me & dh get an extra 30 mins to snooze (the chimps are phenomenally early risers here!)

Ginny26 · 05/11/2023 21:20

Chocolate coins and a satsuma 😋
I always do a little fun game or toy to play with on the morning, last year was penguin and snowman racers (one in each of my child's stocking) then we had a race before going downstairs 🥰

DutchTeenyPixie · 05/11/2023 21:27

Mines very similar and I love the tape measure! Also throwing in a net of bouncy balls (kind of a wierd tradition), a joke book and Harry Potter Dobble.

CanIpetthatdoge · 05/11/2023 22:29

DS loves bouncy balls! Unfortunately we can’t have them within 6 feet of the house or the dog smells them and goes absolutely feral 😂 they are like cocaine for him

When mine were small they would have had a book and a carton of drink to keep them busy so we weren't woken at 4am.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 06/11/2023 10:04

I’ve not started on stockings yet. We only started doing them last year as dd wanted to start a new tradition. I only have small stockings as she gets a lot of presents under the tree. I think ours will have:

tube of sweets
can of American pop for dh
Dragon fruit for dd - it’s on her Xmas list 😂
socks for baby dd
Toothbrush for both dds
Rubber duck for bath
schleich animal cheap

I don’t want to be buying plastic stuff as my dd forgets it exists within seconds. I don’t begrudge others buying though just it’s not for us. I also don’t need to keep her entertained when she wakes up as dh makes us all get up at 5.30am to open presents so we end up waking dd up ourselves.

DSD is 12:

small teddy - (This is a tradition I started when my DSD was younger, it happen she got a teddy at the top of her stocking 2 years running and the 3rd year she was so excited to see what Teddy Father Christmas would get her that year, I’ve keep it going and do the same for DS every year too.)
pop it toy
pop it keyring
Putty
ankle bracelet
Lip barns
gloves
stitch socks
stitch face mask
sweets
chocolate coins
orange

DS - 4 and a half:
Grow your own shark
temporary dinosaur tattoos
Pop it ball
marbles
Yo-yo
magic wand
Spiderman pants
Marvel socks
toothbrush and toothpaste
toy to play in the shower
sweets
chocolate coins
orange

CanIpetthatdoge · 06/11/2023 11:12

I agree re the plastic stuff, for DS he LOVES ‘tat’ and it will get loved and played with and taken to bed 😂

luckily he sleeps till 630 most days and even at Christmas so I’m happy to get up when he wakes!

DS loves pop it toys @BEE08 and keyring! Hence two in his stocking 😂

@CanIpetthatdoge mine love that sort of stuff too, they love any type of fidget toys, slime or putty.
DS loves little bits and has asked for a yo-yo from Father Christmas and I know he will love the wand as he likes to pretend he is Harry Potter 🤣
