Which are the best chocolates for a thank you/Christmas present?

I’m a vegan and usually buy vegan chocolates as presents if getting them as gifts for the small number of people I get gifts for and they are either vegan or enjoy posh vegan chocolates. But….
This would be too costly in this case. I have had complex surgery on my wrist and many departments in my orthopaedic hospital have been involved (and still are). In my treatment. I want to get several tubs of popular chocolates but haven’t got a Scooby Doo. So Roses? Quality Street, Celebrations? Hero’s! Something else maybe posh biscuits? 🤷🏻‍♀️

How much do you want to spend?

asterel · 04/11/2023 18:22

Tub of heroes or a tin of posh M&S biscuits always goes down well in these circumstances I think!

Pinkkisugarmouse · 04/11/2023 18:28

Forgottenmyphone …. I would rather keep the cost down hence the choice to opt for the better known popular chocolates. I honestly don’t know what is a good price for a tub of say hero’s but I can compare online. I have an Asda and a Morrisons nearby.

I was informed things like boxes of biros, hand creams, lip salves were more appreciated so I went with that.

crumpet · 04/11/2023 18:31

Supermarkets have their nice tins of biscuits out - stags/Christmas/tartan etc which makes them feel a bit more “presenty” - but also celebrations egc will go down well

Candleabra · 04/11/2023 18:31

The m&s vegan truffles are amazing and aren’t too pricey. About £8 per box.
The non vegan ones are cheaper I think. They’re also amazing, the nicest chocs I’ve ever had.

Ladypugs60 · 04/11/2023 18:34

M&S do a box of chocolates called The Big One for £5, they are a lot nicer than Roses or Quality St.

KirstenBlest · 04/11/2023 18:35

Celebrations or Heroes if you want to keep the price down, and try to look for 3 for 2 offers.

Year13novice · 04/11/2023 18:35

Heroes and Celebrations are £4 or £5 a tub at places like Tesco. They’re nice and easy to share around. Or you could get those tubs of rocky road / flapjacks / cornflake cakes etc that Tesco or M&S etc sell. They’re often on offer if you buy multiple ones.

I noticed those today on a visit. They look great. I still mourn the loss of 1980s style roses or quality street.

KirstenBlest · 04/11/2023 18:49

The wrapped ones in a tub are the best for sharing.
I usually give the mixed Ferrero Rocher or Green & Black miniatures for relatives, but a decent size box is more a after a meal treat than a dip your hand in tub for sharing.

These would be good too Swizzels Sweet Shop Favourites Tub | Ocado

lindor! every time

KirstenBlest · 04/11/2023 19:19

Hasn't Lindor gone the way of Dairy Milk? The last time I had some they weren't very nice.

ChickpeaPie · 04/11/2023 21:21

Deffo go for chocs, I’d be disappointed to receive a box of biros!!

Edited

The box I was given recently was divine!
Hang on, I'd just better have another to check . . . .

Piccalillies · 04/11/2023 21:35

Tubs of Celebrations, Heroes, Quality Street and Roses are on 2 for £7 at Morrisons with a Morrison More card at the moment. In my opinion celebrations and heroes are nicest.

Birdh0use · 04/11/2023 21:37

Any or a big fruit basket

chocolateisavegetable · 04/11/2023 22:42

I would think that Heroes would be very appropriate

Pinkkisugarmouse · 07/11/2023 19:07

Birdh0use…..Not realistic I’m afraid. I will have to get a taxi, will still have a cast and be reliant on my grown up daughter for help. Any fruit basket would be bashed past edible. Never mind trying to juggle four. Tubs are hardwearing.

I can’t get to an M&S. My options are Morrisons or Asda.

We get given them at work quite often, Celebrations seem to go down best, followed by Heroes, Quality Street and Roses in that order.

RamblingRosiePosy · 07/11/2023 19:16

You can't go wrong with any of the tubs of chocolates. That's why they come into the shops so early, they sell really well.
I would go for Roses and Quality Street.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 07/11/2023 19:19

Roses or quality street but if you see Monty Bojangles, they’re yummy.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 07/11/2023 19:19

Ah the latter ones are too small.

Pinkkisugarmouse · 07/11/2023 19:38

Okay thank you everyone. I don’t know if it’s still possible to close comments but if it is please let me know.

I’m okay for suggestions now. 👍
