Really stuck for ideas for our 8yo ds.

He doesn't know what he wants. He's at that slightly awkward age where he's not massively into playing with toys anymore. Of course he still plays but he's already got a good selection of board games, action figures, nerf guns, a bike, scooter, remote control car. He's not that into Lego and still has unopened sets plus all his brothers old Lego. He's got a Nintendo switch and has plenty of games for that.

Hoping to get some ideas. Thanks in advance.

Ours wants an air up bottle
A switch game

Also getting him a smart watch, a light saber, some star wars merch, a potion making kit, top trumps, books, small games, a t shirt and jumper. Not sure what else yet but some good ideas on here!

Oh and duvet covers and toy robot

Mine's getting a drum kit. Everyone else is getting ear defenders.

My lad just had his 9th birthday. He did get a bit of Lego but the main gift was a music keyboard and music book, a GAN cube (type of rubix cube), pokemon cards, PJs with a blanket hoodie, Perplexius puzzle (far too addictive) and from his Granny a desk which we got him a cheap computer chair and cushion to go with.
For Christmas he is also getting a bit of Lego but his Granny is getting him a refurbished Laptop (she is absolutely spoiling him this year) so we have so far got him a Keyboard & mouse to go with it and bits for his desk (bin, light and leaning mat) plus Minecraft Uno and some clothes.

Days out. Look for interesting places to go or bird of Prey experiences or whatever

Thank you so much. There are some fab ideas here.

Some of these lists sound quite grown up, it can be a funny age for presents especially if they don't need much.

You don't want to buy tat that will sit gathering dust but still want them to have the fun factor on Christmas Day.

A different games console with a game exclusive to it, games console chair, books, something to do with coding, engineering type of toys.

Tickets for a day out somewhere? Football kit, boots or ball. Buy robox gift card for his roblox game

Laptop is always a good one. However bought our 8byear old the minecraft one which is around 160.00 at smyths and its brilliant. He does his homework on it and plays online games.

We found a lot at this age was buying better versions of what he already had

Better stunt scooter with stunt pegs?
Bigger goals for the garden and goalie gloves (with finger stays)
Footie team latest strip or away strip, or European team strip
Bigger/huge nerf gun with extra features / nerf water guns
Remote controlled helicopter or drone

What does he mostly play with already?

Blanketpolicy · 31/01/2024 18:24

Really good pens for drawing - a mix of felt tips, fine liners, stencils etc (Staedtler are good) and a hard back sketch book with good quality paper to keep some good drawings in and you can store it later

I think they're probably sorted now ...
