This year we will be overseas for Christmas, DS (13) understands we can't take loads of presents as we have weight restrictions etc and he's really not bothered as we are away having fun etc, but I did want a few bits I can wrap up, we've got him an experience gift so just an envelope weight wise, DH has ordered some thing for his game he can use straight away but I'm stumped for other ideas. Would appreciate any help any of you can give please 😀 (before anyone says it yes he's on holiday, yes he's happy with nothing, but I just want a few bits, preferably useful for holiday he can open as the other children living there will have things)

Some AUS dollars in a new wallet so he can get some souvenirs?

New shirt to wear out to dinner with family

Guide book for an attraction you're going to surprise him with a visit to?

Brilliant ideas! Wallet he has recently got but others are going on the list. Thank you

If you arrive a few days beforehand, pop into local supermarket and get some Australian chocolates or sweets to bulk out. Take empty stocking to fill there.

A card game like UNO flip or Monopoly Deal

Bottle of aftershave (from duty free!), shirt, shoes maybe? Sweets and some vouchers. Does he have an Amazon music account or Spotify premium? That’d be good with some decent headphones/earbuds (I’d probably use dutyfree for them too tbh)

Ah trainers he's been lusting after? Or any sports wear etc? If so get it ordered in aus and delivered to family and then wrap and give him for Christmas. Ditch the packaging and bring them home . In your shoes I would be ordering most things to be delivered to family to save the space for flying out, then maybe just book an extra bag for coming home. Send crazy to take gifts with you when Australia will sell them 🤷🏼‍♀️

Frisbee for the beach? Baseball cap

OMGitsnotgood · 31/10/2023 20:05

Are you planning on buying anything new for him for the holiday (t-shirt/swim shorts/cap etc)? If so, you could wrap those up as you'd be taking them anyway.

PP mentioned buying sweets when there - if you have time to do that, you might be able to buy a book or magazine for him to read while there & leave there if he's finished them.

Voucher for a photo book to make when you get home

These are all great ideas thank you.
We will have spare room coming home so good idea about buying things there.
