Special whiskey glasses?

Buying my DH a whiskey dispenser for Christmas, would like to get him some special whiskey glasses to go with it...but wondering what would be classed as special apart from personalising? Is there a world famous maker of whiskey glasses I'm unaware of?! Have you done something similar?

What’s the budget?
The Glencairn glasses with flight boards are nice.

My lovely old dad turned 80 last week and is a very traditional whiskey drinker and likes old style glasses (he's Scottish too so extra entitled to be picky).

I took a chance on something different for his gift and got him these to go with his bottle of the brown stuff -

Sorry snowgal, didn't look at your link properly.

Great minds Grin

Another vote for the norlanglass ones as mentioned twice already

Glencairns are the traditional ones and as pp says you can get lots of different sets, cut glass etc.

@cakepip also recommend whiskey stones.

DH a bug whiskey drinker and swears by them rather than ice.

Big but can't edit on app

Depending on what your budget is, Waterford crystal glasses could be lovely. I especially love the Aras collection.

On the more budget friendly side, I got a friend some glasses from this collection a few years ago. Obviously it would only be appropriate if your husband has a connection to Liverpool, but there might be something similar with a connection to somewhere your DH loves.

Dartington do a nice heavy bottomed whisky glass. Very rounded at the bottom so it fits in your hand.

Slainte to your DH!

Thanks so much everyone, think I will go for the norlan ones!

Again, another vote for Norlan but I would definitely skip over the standard glass and buy the Rauk ones. More expensive but a beautiful, weighty glass.

Thanks for this thread OP. I'm going to buy the Norlan glasses for my friend and also the Liverpool skyline one which is perfect for FIL so 2 presents ticked off the list

I do like the Norman ones but Dorothy Thorpe Mad Men whiskey glasses are so stylish (I got some from Etsy)!

MarjorieDanvers · 29/10/2023 18:30

Sorry Norlan - not sure who Norman is!

I came on to suggest this brand. I bought some for my dad. They feel weighty and nice.
