Christmas lights that TWINKLE (not flash!) ?

This is the effect that I'm looking for (click on the relevant thumbnails for videos of the effect):

https://www.christmaslightsetc.com/p/5mm-LED-Wide-AngleSoftTwinkle-MultiRed--Blue--Amber--Green--Gold-Prelamped-Light-Set--Green-Wire-15210.htm#64474

Therefore NOT the type that flash and yet some call it a twinkle effect.

I've seen the twinkle effect also referred to as 'glow worm' and 'soft fade'.

Preferably in multiple colours as seen at the link above on one string.

I'll go for a very warm white set of twinkling bulbs if I can't get multi-coloured, the following place has the former:

https://www.festive-lights.com/fairy-lights/twinkling-fairy-lights

but I would prefer multi-coloured. Battery or mains powered.

I could import the set in the first link from America but then I'd need to also buy a stepdown mains converter, costing maybe £50 or so .......

Any ideas please on some decent twinkling light strings available for the UK? Either the old filament style or the newer LEDs.

Completely agree with you here! I’d pay good money for some twinkling lights in any colour instead of the harsh flashing ones! The sets I have at the moment are lovely lights but the nearest I can get to a twinkle is a setting where they do slowly twinkle for 10 seconds but then they flash for 10 and this alternates. It drives me
mad that I can’t get a setting for just a slow twinkle! Husband thinks I’m crazy for being so mad about this but they just look so much nicer on a slow twinkle! I’m very interested to see any replies on here!

PositivelyGlowing · 26/10/2023 14:37

You're definitely not crazy, but you do have excellent taste in your preferred type of twinkling Christmas lights. :-)

I can't see a video of those second lights.
I've seen these (in single colour) at a couple restaurants but the person who puts them up is never there so never got the source, so thanks for the link.
I'm obsessed with lights too. I once had a set of icicle lights put up on the roofline - the guy I hired put up bright white when I specified warm white. He thought I was insane when I told them he had to replace them as otherwise they wouldn't match the wreath or the tree in the front bay!

ThisMustBeMyDream · 26/10/2023 15:08

I'm searching for exactly the same! Every single set has the same twinkle/flash setting and it is driving me up the wall! I just want a soft twinkle on my tree not a fucking epileptic fit.
I've searched high and low for warm white ones. No joy! Also need around 1000 lights too 🤣 which means if I do ever find any they probably won't be enough!.

Do these fit the bill

PositivelyGlowing · 26/10/2023 16:40

Thanks, unfortunately there's no video of them showing the twinkling so I don't know if they'll be suitable or not. Appreciate the pointer though.

QVC have firefly lights, but only in warm white or white, there is a video and I think it is the twinkle you are looking for.

PositivelyGlowing · 26/10/2023 16:58

Thanks, unfortunately those seem to have what I would call a 'spasmodic' twinkle. If you look at the link in my first post (and click on the animated thumbnail on the page) then that's what I'm after.

Not a fan of Twinkly lights I'm afraid, there's something about the colours that's really 'off'. Hated the app too.

Oh I wish I could find a set that just twinkled, every set I look at have a twinkle/flash setting but not just twinkle alone. It drives me insane, I hate the flashing effect.

AutumnFroglets · 26/10/2023 19:41

Sorry if my post bumps this up but I'm also looking for similar. Those flashing ones induce migraines :/

BettyOBarley · 26/10/2023 19:50

Just joining in to say I've been looking for the same thing for about 5 years....
Let's hope someone comes along and saves Christmas 🤣

DinosaurOfFire · 26/10/2023 19:54

I'm also on the lookout for these now I know they're a thing! The newer flashing ones give me migraines too, @AutumnFroglets .

BunnyBerries · 26/10/2023 20:07

The brand Twinkly are a bit expensive but just incredible for soft twinkling (you can design patterns of twinkle and change the twinkle or colour (choose from a whole colour wheel) on a whim with your phone via WiFi. I actually want to put my tree up early just to watch my tree now Glitterball

BunnyBerries · 26/10/2023 20:10

Oh just seen most recent messages you've tried it already! facepalm

Perhaps try eBay for some old fashioned ones? I think I know the twinkle you mean

timetorefresh · 26/10/2023 20:11

I always find it hard to believe anyone would want those horrible flashy ones in their house. There's a definite market for a gentle twinkle

PositivelyGlowing · 26/10/2023 20:13

The following battery driven lights seem to get some great reviews as lights that apparently properly twinkle, not tried them myself though:

and those on the same store's page for Twinkling lights has some others, neither of which I've tried though:

I wish there were videos for all of the above to get an idea of how the twinkle effect looks.

I am posting in hope that somebody comes along with twinkling lights! I'm the same, really dislike the quick violent flashing and want something soft!

SillyAutomatic · 26/10/2023 20:56

I got these. Out of stock ATM, I tested when I got them and they TWINKLE. I was getting really stressed out by others, glad it's not just me!
Though I'm now worried I didn't leave them on long enough and they will start fucking flashing after a bit. DH has put them in the bloody loft, so I'll have to wait I suppose.

Thanks, I wonder if anyone else sells those. Can't find any yet.

I have firefly lights which twinkle but haven’t found them in colours yet

Daftapath · 27/10/2023 13:19

Cox and cox claim to have lights that twinkle. As you have said before though, there is no video to see the twinkle!

PositivelyGlowing · 27/10/2023 16:11

Thanks. A pity that there's no video - I've now seen lots of interpretations of 'twinkle' lights and most are a variation of annoying flashing/blinking while others are a kind of spasmodic flickering on and off.
