DS 12 never asks for much but each year when he was younger we bought a special ‘big’ present from us that he hasn’t asked for but loved, e.g. plastic keyboard and microphone, scooter.
The last couple of years we haven’t done this, but I’d love to get that magic surprise element this year.
It’s much more difficult now as everything is more expensive as they get older. But budget could be about £100 for this one thing.
Any ideas would be fabulous.
(Not keen on team sports, has a Switch).

Not big but we got DS an alexa show and he loves it.

In the same situation with DTs, I'm getting them tickets to Six.

How about a mini drone with camera, have seen a few decent ones on Amazon

Forgottenmyphone · 26/10/2023 06:35

Air hockey table

This year we are getting a punching bag but also a weekend away doing the London Eye and Madam Tusards as well as his favourite food place.
Have done tickets to insomnia before. An escape room experience. A trip with dad to an Indian restaurant.
Was thinking of something like go karting or indoor skydiving.

TV
Alton Towers tickets
skateboard
big Lego set
guitar
paintball for four

Tickets for something they are following/interested in.
We organised a private tour of a castle DD is obsessed with for her birthday, I think it was the best present she ever got.
Overnight stay with a visit somewhere you normally wouldn't go

Some of these fab ideas are way over £100...

DS is 11 and he'd love a dart board, air hockey table, a goal for the garden, sports add-on for the Nintendo, a mini fridge with snacks, cash!

Ahwig · 26/10/2023 19:18

My grandson loved a metal detector at that age.

BeaLola · 26/10/2023 19:26

Air hockey table, our DS loved a basketball hoop, tickets to something he would love do not big in size but experience

Thank you so much all for taking the time to give ideas. There are some great ones here. @mummyof2boys30 I'd never heard of an Alexa Show but I think DH would love it! Thank you!
Unfortunately I spend all my time trying to get DS off the Switch or YouTube and I know he'd try taking it everywhere with him.
He's not at all keen on shows but loves music.
To be honest reading these ideas makes me realise how lucky he is as he has loads of lovely things and that's why it's so hard to think of something.
So many of you are right - it doesn't need to be big in size, just in "specialness".
A big lego set might still go down well @Favouritefruits. I'll keep thinking as there's nothing quite right but I appreciate all your ideas.

Mine love it. For youtube and ds has dsylexia so its good for homework etc as it shows the spelling on screen as well as out loud.

Other ideas mine like
A insta360 gimbal for making tiktok/you tube videos

Gaming chair
New controllers/games for console
Cool bike helmet
