Cleanser for 14 YO boy?

I'm putting together a stocking for DS, aged 14 and wanted to add some decent cleanser as his skin is getting a bit teenagery! Any recommendations or brands that boys of this age might like, and are a bit more luxury than the Clearsil that I used at that age?!

He's not really into grooming or self care yet. He can generally be relied on to have a quick shower but still needs reminding about deodorant Confused

Thank you!

Would Cerave be an option? Easy to find and buy, easy to use - fairly popular and "safe" neutral option (all over social media so not some odd thing he might not want to use!).

Neutrogena has some good ones.

Agree on cerave, the salicylic one v good for surface spots.

My nieces swear by The Elements range - they have a nice cleanser. I’ll be restocking them with it at Christmas as part of a little hamper I do for them each.

Cerave foaming cleanser has sorted out DS13's teenagery skin. He was getting regular white heads but this has stopped them altogether.

Dermalogica - special cleansing lotion. If you buy it online from beauty flash, it's cheaper but still expensive! You only need 1 pump a day do it lasts ages....

DS uses cerave - the blue cleanser in the morning, green one in the evening and the moisturiser as well.

My DS is an adult ( with a beard) he uses Lush Kalamazoo and Carbon Theory

The Inky List has some great products, very neutral packaging and often on special off in Boots

LittleGreenDuck · 25/10/2023 19:26

Thank you. I'll have a look at the Cerave. He's not covered in acne, but has a few whiteheads and skin is starting to look a bit oily. I don't want to make him self conscious, but think he needs to start taking care of himself a bit more than the quick pits and bits wash he does now!

Ooh, these look good, too. Thanks

There’s some clear spot treatment “plasters” that I bought for my DS , apply overnight then wash off.
if they do use during the day they’re invisible
cannot remember the brand off hand but I’m sure it was in Superdrug

FortyFacedFuckers · 25/10/2023 19:33

This made such a difference to my skin & my DS 18 uses it too, so much so I can tell if he hasn't used it for a few days

This looks suitably "fancy", thank you.

As he’s 14 are you going through The Lynx stage? When my DS went to karate lessons us parents would discuss how you practically had to use a scythe to cut through the fug of Lynx, worse for those who had 2-3 teen sons in the house.

DS isn’t a Lynx user thankfully but he’s not averse to helping himself to my Aveda shampure

My 14 year old uses Cerave cleanser and Effaclar toner and duo+ cream. You can get nicely presented Effaclar starter packs which look suitably gifty.
