Pre-Lit Christmas Tree

Hi all.

My Christmas tree is a bit old and tired I'd like to buy a Pre-Lit one. Do they come with the lights already on the tree, or is it just a Christmas tree with a set of lights also in the box? I hate stringing the lights myself, so I want a tree I can get out of the box and decorate, with minimal faffing about.

Thanks for any help! 🎄

On ours (to which I am a new convert) they are already on so you don't have to string them. I got it from Balsam Hill and you just fit the three sections together and plug it in

Nonentity2023 · 25/10/2023 15:44

Ours is from Balsam Hill. It’s beautiful and easy to set up. You slot the three sections together and it lights up automatically- no need to find connectors in the branches.

Every year, when I spend hours untangling the lights, I swear never again, I am going to buy a pre-lit tree and then of course I forget.
So thank you for posting this, I will have a look in shops! Balsam Hill recommendation noted!

Another Balsam Hill owner here! I have 2 pre-lit ones and they are the best investment I've ever made!
I have a Vermont White Spruce and a Frosted Fraser Fir 😊

youdonotneedanewphone · 25/10/2023 19:32

Thank you @LolaSparkle for specifying which! I just go lost on their website! So many! and they look so real!

BeansOnToast32 · 25/10/2023 19:34

Another Balsam Hill tree here, I've got the Royal Blue Spruce. It has 3 different light options clear candlelight, just coloured lights or coloured mixed with clear lights.

Just use the remote to change it to whatever you prefer, also has loads of brightness levels.

youdonotneedanewphone · 25/10/2023 19:35

How do you store yours? If they come in 3 sections, are they bulky? Where do you keep yours? We don't have an attic.

LolaSparkle · 25/10/2023 19:45

@youdonotneedanewphone I have the Vermont White spruce in my living room and it's stunning and then the Frosted Fraser Fir in my kitchen - also a stunning tree (a bit messy when putting up and taking down but hoovers up fine)

If you get one, my top tip would be to invest the time in "fluffing" it ... it makes an incredible difference!

They come with storage bags, spare bulbs and 2 pairs of "fluffing" gloves to protect your hands and I store mine in the rafters of my garage 🙂

LittleRedYoshi · 25/10/2023 19:48

Ours is the same concept but from We R Christmas, if you're after a more budget option than Balsalm Hill.

I was slightly disappointed to discover that pre-lit trees still have the appearance of being strung with lights - I'd hoped they were a bit more built in/less visible wires, but never mind. Impressed with the realism of the tree itself, at least.

youdonotneedanewphone · 25/10/2023 19:56

Thank you all!! Off to their website again! So many!!

trafficcarrots · 25/10/2023 20:01

We have a balsam hill pre lit too. I ordered the Christmas that everyone's orders were massively delayed, think it arrived Christmas Eve and the transformer was broken, but we had a spare one from previous Christmas lights luckily. Love the tree but always a bit hesitant ordering from them again. But in answer to the question, definitely a good investment, no faffing with lights, just the fluffing to sort. And the gloves that come with it are a must when fluffing as the branches are quite bristley!

Another vote for Balsam Hill

Such a game changer. I quite enjoy hanging the decorations but found the lights tedious and never seemed to be even.

Pre-lit is genius.

Cosycover · 25/10/2023 20:23

Get a light curtain and just wrap round the tree. Game changer.

I agree this is a smart solution but it is not enough lights for me, I string my lights from the trunk up the branch and up and down the "fingers" at the top of the branch, back down to the trunk and move onto the next branch. This means there is depth to the lights as they are inside the tree not just on the outside. This involves all the branches above being tied up and released one layer at a time to have access to the branches. But then I am a bit of a Monica from Friends when I do my tree Grin I have a Balsam Hill tree, not prelit because I like doing the lights. Plus I watched lots of professional tree decorators

If anyone on here does buy a BH tree there is a video on youtube on how to fluff the branches by BH. It opens by showing how the branches arrive, what people think fluffing is and what properly fluffing looks like. The first year is the hardest as it is packed so tight. But honestly, it is the most beautiful tree I have ever owned. Am on my 6th year with it.

nocoolnamesleft · 25/10/2023 21:19

I got a Balsam Hill one a couple of years back, and it's great.

INeedAnotherName · 25/10/2023 21:24

I bought a pre-lit one from Asda last year which was very good (liked it that much I bought a smaller one in the Wilko sale).

Have to admit I added a string of lights to it but I tend to overstuff my tree with tinsel, baubles etc and I can't see the pre-lit lights as much Blush

hotcandle · 25/10/2023 21:25

I have an amazing Asda pre-lit tree. A quarter of the price of others recommended and its beautiful.

Sleepyteach · 25/10/2023 21:25

Absolutely love our Balsam Hill tree, we got it on Black Friday 5 years ago, love not having to put the lights on. It still wasn’t cheap (we got 50% off) but it is a really lovely tree and since I can’t have a real tree it’s the next best thing

Rosesandstars · 26/10/2023 19:22

Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm looking for the same (7ft prelit) to replace a m&s prelit. Please could people share some pics of their trees? I'm thinking or getting a Balsam Hill or Christmas tree world one.

TrickyD · 26/10/2023 23:35

Christmas Tree World have excellent realistic trees, lit and unlit, and are vastly cheaper than Balsam Hill.,
