Cooperative board game recommendations

Can anyone suggest any good cooperative games for 2, with a young player (age 5). It's just me and DS at home and a lot of board/ card games where one of you wins aren't the best experience with only 2 players, plus he's rather competitive and it gets a bit trying. I think we'd have more fun working together.

Saw Race to the Treasure mentioned on another thread which looks great and would love any other suggestions.

I've got Peaceable Kingdom Dinosaur Escape put aside for Christmas - not played yet but gets great reviews!

Mt favourite is OutFoxed. The richard scarry busytown game is good too (although massive!).

Staggersaurus · 23/10/2023 17:13

I came on to recommend the Richard Scarry one.

BadgerFace · 23/10/2023 19:54

I came on to recommend Outfoxed as well!

Turtleoo · 23/10/2023 19:57

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check these out!

We had mermaid Island at that age but tbh it got boring quite quickly. Disney Eye Found It was better.

Outfoxed really is an excellent game. My game loving bad loser loves it.

I second outfoxed, also suggest:
Bandido
Andor: The Family Fantasy Game
Cauldron Quest

I came to recommend outfoxed and forbidden island as well. I also have a scavenger hunt one where i make them do the scavanger hunt (it's cards with pictures on) and I sit down and judge. I really like that one.

drspouse · 24/10/2023 10:49

What ages are Outfoxed and Forbidden Island for?

Aparecium · 24/10/2023 12:12

Our youngest was 5 when we were given Forbidden Island. Because of the co-operative nature of the game he was able to join in at his own level and feel a full participant. I think it helped developed his thinking skills.

Ketakones · 24/10/2023 19:59

Yes! Same for us with Forbidden Island, I really feel like it helped develop reasoning skills but it has been a marvellous game for all the kids and adults to enjoy. We slightly modified the rules as well. Outfoxed is aimed at a younger audience - box says 5+ and imagery is very fun and bright.

Zombie kids - loving playing this with my husband and 7 year old
