Quick and easy board/card games

I'd like to get a few new games for Christmas. I've realised that, as much as I'd like them to, my kids (12 - 9 years old) just don't have the appetite for long games e.g Catan, Carcassonne, Monopoly. They love simple quick games like Dobble, Connect 4, Uno. Any recommendations for some new games for us to try?

Family version of cards against humanity went down well here

Seawaver · 23/10/2023 13:56

Also, I’ve heard Soundiculous is good fun.

I’m thinking of getting:
Rummikub, labyrinth (probably pokemon version) and blokus. Not sure how well blokus would work as there’s 3 of us.

Lovemychair · 23/10/2023 16:52

We have used to like Pit, noisy but good fun and easy to play.

Current favourite quick games:
Snakesss (multiple choice questions, the Snakes have to trick people into picking the wrong answer)
Chameleon (everyone has to describe the same thing, the Chameleon has to guess what they are describing and try to describe it too without giving away that they are the Chameleon)
Nice Buns - hilarious name, cute quick strategy game - get three sets of bao buns without being left with the fish heads, nice mechanic of splitting a 3 dice roll between yourself and another player (you cut, they choose)
Dixit - weird, beautiful picture cards, pick a card from your hand to match the Storyteller's theme, then everyone guesses which is the Storyteller's card.

Love letters and exploding kittens, both great and quick too.

ColdinNovember · 23/10/2023 22:34

I’m thinking of Rummikub and blokus. Not sure if blokus works well with 3 players though which is usually our number.

Buttons0522 · 23/10/2023 22:47

Not necessarily quick but the sock game
is a winner in our house for all ages!

AngelasEyelash · 23/10/2023 22:56

Monopoly Deal is the card version of Monopoly - much quicker & much more fun!

Rummikub is a firm favourite in our house.

Code words is good (using 1 word to link random words on the cards whilst trying to avoid the 'double agent')

Would recommend Skyjo

Pass the pigs

Paradiseflycatcher · 23/10/2023 22:58

Monopoly deal is ace, much better than the boring board version of monopoly
