Perfume and skin care for 9 year old

Dd is 9, will be 10 by Christmas. Doesn't really know what she what's except some Pandora jewellery. She's getting into make up/skin care/perfume and wants "cool" stuff but can't tell me what cool is - what is cool these days for 9/10 year olds? I'd prefer not to break the bank in this either..

There's a brand called spots and stripes which does pre teen/teen skincare. Might be worth looking at?

Ask her to tell you. Or get her a boots voucher and go shopping together - that's a good way for you to talk to her about it. A 9 year old could probably do with nice spf for their face.

Revolution is a good idea for all of these categories. The website has some good deals on as well

Having been in Boots yesterday and watching a child of a similar age trying to convince her DM to buy her retinol serum because “TikTok says”…

Please don’t give her a voucher - if you must, go shopping with her and supervise what she’s picking up.

Bright eyeshadows and nail polish is one thing. A 9 year old does not need an AHA peel and retinol.

I would have thought a bottle of cleansing milk and some cotton wool balls and a couple of cheap face masks she can peel off from a supermarket. You can get perfumes tweens often seem to like: Ariana Grande or Britney Spears which is £14 instead of £28 in Boots ATM.

My first perfume was Tommy girl. I love the smell so much.

Sheet masks are always a hit or Lush body sprays? Snow Fairy is popular with my teenagers/pre-teen.

Mascara is used by DDs and all their friends, I usually buy them Maybelline.

DD likes primark skincare or even the boots own brand stuff. I think for that age a miceller water, moisturiser and face wash - defo no retinol etc.

In terms of perfumes - what about the Victoria's Secret body mists? They're on offer for 3 or 4 in next just now.

My DD is 11 and I agree with the suggestion of Revolution for make-up. I bought her a gorgeous little palette with lots of fun colours and she goes to town with it! She just wants to experiment with different colours and different looks and this palette cost £5! It's perfect for what she wants at her age.

Perfume-wise, I'm not sure about 'cool' but Next do some lovely scents for kids...basically their adult scents but diluted to be suitable for kids. I put this Miss Sparkle gift set in her stocking last year and she was delighted! She also now like some of the Zara scents - she has Deep Garden and Wonder Rose and both are lovely.

A good gentle moisturiser with a decent spf (your never too young to protect skin from sun damage). I'm not sure what cool brands are (Byoma? Drunk elliohant?). I'd probably tick tok it or better still go to a large boots on a weekend or school hols and see what the younger ones are buying.

Actually, just to correct myself, the Revolution palette was £10 not £5. But still very good value I think for what it was. It was this one.

Oh and like previous pp I totally agree, some tick tok trends aren't meant for young skin. Good gentle cleansing and spf are a good routine to get into. The Arianna Grande perfumes are popular and some decent trending brand chapstick to pop in her school bag was a must have for my dd at that age(along with lush lip scrub).
