I'm a bit stumped!!

They'll get pants and pyjamas (if I can find nice ones), smellies, fave smelling toiletries, a chocolate orange...

.... and then what?

I'm a bit stumped! They've outgrown the sorts of novelties I used to put in, don't want tides of ephemeral crap, so what else could Father Christmas get them?
(And ditto for a teenage little sister)

Japanese sweets and drinks were a hit last year, but I don't think there's an appetite for a repeat!

Drinks? Beer? Soft drinks?

cwigley · 11/10/2023 21:47

Car stuff? Mine needs a phone cradle & 12v charger lead

cwigley · 11/10/2023 21:48

Voucher for a car valet?

Drinks? Beer? Soft drinks?

They're not big drinkers (DD is another story!) so there isn't an obvious tipple to put in.

But is there some random big online drink (with bragging rights) at the moment?

Neither of them have their own car (city dwellers) but that's a v good shout for other gentle readers!

Greggs voucher?

Leeds2 · 11/10/2023 21:51

Tube of whatever is the latest flavour of Pringles.
Lottery ticket.
Voucher for Greggs/Starbucks/Costa etc.
Recipe book for their favourite cuisine, maybe with some appropriate ingredients to match too.
After Shave/perfume.
Rubik's cube.

Thelifeofawife · 11/10/2023 21:55

Here are things I listed for my DS last year (he’s a bit younger), he got some but not all

Lynx
Razor
Batteries
Super noodles
Choc orange
Stress ball
Fluffy bed socks
Trolley coin (gym locker)
Multi tool key
Clip key ring
Air cans (for PC)
USB stick
Sheet face mask

Gym towel
Water bottle
Socks
Shower speaker
Vouchers (Greggs/Nando’s)
Muscle rub

Nose trimmer
Nail/grooming kit
Protein bars
Beanie hat
Airpods cleaner

For your DD, I have seen some nice bits in TK Maxx, wet brushes, make up, nail polish (approx £3 each)

Gunpowder · 11/10/2023 22:05

HB pencils with their name on, fridge magnet photo frame with family pic, little sharp paring knife, keep cup, golf/tennis balls if they play either, playing cards, smoked almonds, tea towels, therapy putty, nice notebook, sudoku/crossword book.

I put in favourite snacks for mine.
My ds loves pistachios so I have got a large bag with my food shop as they were on offer.
A drink of some sort, usually something they wouldn't buy or we don't have at home.
One year I did hot chocolate kits for them with miniature bottles of rum to add to it.
Another year, a bag of giant marshmallows, plus other things.
They also get a tree decoration (started when they turned 21) which when they leave home they can have to add to their own tree. Ds has moved out but he wants me to keep his until he buys his first place together with his gf.
I've put in packs of tissues which look like £50 notes which were a surprising hit.

thefirstmrsrochester · 11/10/2023 22:21

Unexpected hit for DS (18) stocking last year was lego plumber figure (he is an apprentice plumber), led gloves and head torch, fancy boxers, serial killers top trump cards, and a mini lava lamp.

DS (21) had a rugby lego mini figure, led gloves and head torch, baw bags (rugby boxer shorts), Doddie Weir scarf and a booster pack for cards against humanity.

DD (23) got lush bath bombs, journal, bunny rabbit slippers, new charm for her bracelet, and a mini lava lamp also.

All 3 got a tree decoration from the charity which supported DS (21) through his cancer diagnosis and treatment. I'm keeping this one going.

Not vouchers, never vouchers. My DSs (24 and 26)get expensive vouchers for things like IKEA or food chains every year from a relative and they just don't use them.

What has been popular.
Key rings
Rechargeable head torch
Card games
Car bits
Good quality
Those gym towels that roll up small
Hiking socks
Spice tin (masala dabba I think they are called)

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 11/10/2023 22:39

My DC, not as old as your adult DC has:
Designer boxers, vouchers for Xbox and steam, Versace mini aftershaves, Elemis cleansing barm (only 20g but he loves it) designer socks, cleaning kit for AirPods, sneaker balls for football boots, indoor football, a mint chocolate Terri’s and chocolate coins.

Caspianberg · 12/10/2023 09:57

Stanley thermos trigger cup
lindt chocolate balls
neck merino buff
thin cotton canvas shopping bag - get with theme they like.
small umbrella
orchid lego kit

Minttee · 12/10/2023 10:22

Ds 18 is getting
Fluffy slipper socks
Pj's
Hair wax more expensive than usual stuff
Bath bombs
Ps4 credit
Magazine and subscription voucher
Pringles
Lindt balls

It's tough when they get big isn't it!

LittleSnowOwl · 12/10/2023 11:37

Scratch cards
Mini bottles of baileys
Thera putty
Boss pants
Fiddle toys
Amazon voucher
Reeces selection packs

WeirdPookah · 12/10/2023 13:32

A different country's snacks!

Last year I got my children falooda drink mix from an Indian supermarket, Mini panettone are good too.

TokyoSushi · 12/10/2023 13:37

Brilliant suggestions here, DS is only 13 but would love a lot of this stuff!

QueenOfWeeds · 12/10/2023 16:06

Re: the head torch, I got DH one set into a beanie hat. He’s a bit older than the age range but I reckon they’re brilliant for outdoorsy types.

Trevforsure · 12/10/2023 19:24

Mine is only 16 but his is going to be so boring this year
pants
socks
lynx
shower gel
perfume
a razor
chocolate
sweets
charger cables…

I’ve previously bought him a wallet/key rings/ gadgets/stress toys/bike tool etc and they’ve all just sat there unused so I’d rather not waste my money this year but it just all seems shit!

Goalie gloves, shin pads, gym gloves, gym towel WERE appreciated in the last few years but he doesn’t need more this year.

RancidOldHag · 13/10/2023 08:48

There are some fantastic ideas here!

Some we already do (like a tree decoration - that I try to match with something that's happened during the year, so they'd better like ecletic trees)

Others I'll be nicking, esp sports accessories and stuff for the gym, head torch, thera putty, smellies and pants (I actually knew what baw bags are, as they market them to runners as well!)

I had no idea there was such a thing as airpods cleaning kit - and I think that'll go down well (bedroom is as messy as sin, but tech is immaculate!)

Interesting snacks yes, but Pringles no, as they're getting Pringles Advent Calendars
