Ladies stocking fillers

SharonTheHappySquirrel · 11/10/2023 21:33

I am doing stockings fillers to go inside the main present for a few ladies, ages between 40-60. On my list so far are the usual things of chocs, a small bottle of prosecco, a nice hand cream, nice candle, have bought some turtle dove wrist warmers. What would you like to receive as stocking fillers, or what are you buying for the ladies in your lives? Can be jokey, they all have a good sense of humour

I like bubble bath. I use shower gel as bubble bath too, so could be either.

Leeds2 · 11/10/2023 21:45

A scratch card, or lottery ticket.
Bottle of wine or cocktail in a can.
Lush bath bomb.
Lip balm.
Hotel Chocolat/Green & Black's chocolate.
Cath Kidston mug.
Nice tea bags, or whatever coffee they drink.

JewelleryCat · 11/10/2023 22:11

Jewellery, scarf, perfume, books, hand cream which you’ve said, cosy socks, slippers so I’m sure they’d like them depending on their tastes

Icedlatteplease · 11/10/2023 22:13

Nice socks
Nice soaps (from a UK manufacturer)

SM4713 · 11/10/2023 22:30

TBH, I have close to 1 million little hand/body creams, so wouldn't want more! The only one I really loved was an Elemis face cream I was given which I suspect was a re-gift!

I'd also be cautious of bubble bath/bath bombs- unless you know they love a bath! Years ago, we gave a work colleague a gift pack with all manner of washes, soaps, creams, sprays etc. No one knew her well, but turned out she couldn't get in and out of her bath because she was very large. She found the bath part of the gift offensive, and gave it back in a huff! None of us knew this beforehand of course! It was just 1 part of the overall gift pack!😬

Obviously depending on the recipient:
Chocolate orange
Ferrero rocher or even better, the white Raffaelo ones 😋
Pot plant and/or nice indoor, ceramic pot. If too large, then a packet of seeds
Headtorch. I love a headtorch!
Nice notebook and pen
Bird feeder or fat balls/coconuts to hang in the garden
Wheat bag

I’m not quite 40 (but fairly close). Personally I’d like:

Most of those items would be more expensive than a "stocking filler" surely? Confused who gets jewellery as a filler rather than a main present?

Spacemasks. They're self heating eye masks. Brilliant as a treat to relax. Really great for getting rid of headaches. You could buy a multipack and split them.

Ladies Swiss Army knife

Am in this bracket and tbh I am not remotely into candles etc.

Stocking fillers I'd like to receive:

Nice notebooks
Decent quality nail polish in a 'every day' colour.
Aveeno hand cream
Tony's Chocoloney choc
Tin of lip balm
Compact mirror
Pringles

bbcfolkie · 12/10/2023 07:58

Things I would like...
Scented candle
Quality chocolate
Small diary
Book
Socks

wibdib · 12/10/2023 08:24

If you have any recipients that like gardening, these gardening glove claws look a good combination of fun and practical!

EfficientlyDecluttering · 12/10/2023 08:30

Virtually nothing that has been listed on this thread, sorry.

Candles - no, rarely use them because of climbing cats and particularly don’t like scented ones
Handcream, lipbalm etc - I’ve got more than I know what to do with already
Chocolates - will get given away as low carbing
Travel mug - already got two
Wristwarmers - already got some and rarely use them
Scarves - hate them, too hot.
Socks - I don’t like the snuggly sort, I run hot and am strictly a trainer sock and black cotton ankle sock person
Prosecco - hate it
Bubble bath - never have baths. Shower gel is OK.
Fold-up shopping bag - got dozens of them already
Body lotions / foot creams - prefer to choose my own
Notebook and pen - got millions of pens, notebooks I am very specific about and only have one on the go at a time (bullet journal).
Compact mirrors - am always charity shopping these, I seem to have dozens of them.
Mugs - no, we have got far more than we can ever uses as it is.

What I would like is
Garden centre giftcards
Cafe Nero (or local independent coffee shop) giftcards
Bookshop giftcards
Decaff coffee beans
Small lego sets - or nanoblocks
Some coloured straps for my apple watch
Small bottle of gin (unflavoured) and fever tree tonics
Salt and vinegar pork scratchings

Thanks for all the ideas, lots to think about, quite a few I hadn’t thought of 🙂

Do you know them well? If they are the kind of people who buy what they want when they need it, then I think a lot of these things will go to waste. My mum likes to do stocking fillers and although I appreciate the gesture, I hate all the waste. It just takes up space until I can take it to the charity shop. I now ask for plain black tights 😂

They all seem to like Prosecco, could you take them for an early/post Christmas drink instead? Most 35-55yr people I know are quite eco conscious, so maybe something not involving plastic. Small potted cactus, just wrap in a box? Gift card? Savoury crackers (not every woman likes chocolate 😂).

Idontpostmuch · 12/10/2023 11:31

Chocolate brussel sprouts.

ooh what a lovely list of ideas...might pinch a few :)

Normalsizedsalad · 12/10/2023 12:30

Do younknow what they actually like? My best would be gardening shop voucher and beer voucher....
And burts bees lip balm.
I never say no to a good wall calendar😁

KirstenBlest · 12/10/2023 12:49

I was going to say Burt's Bees lip balm. The tinted one in a dark tube.
Or plain/SPF lipbalm - unflavoured
Pocket compact mirror.
Tiny retractable tape measure for pocket/handbag.
Small swiss army knife
Small sewing kit for those times when you really need a safety pin or button.
Small nice handcream e.g. L'Occitane
Shareable box of mixed Ferrero Rocher or Green & Black miniatures.

Things I don't want unless specifically requested:
Smellies
Towels
Washbag/make-up bag
Perfume
Flowers
Plants
Gardening bits'n'bobs unless really good quality
Ornaments
Kitchen gadgets
Clothes
Spa vouchers
Food
Scented candles
Booze

Lovemusic82 · 13/10/2023 16:09

I make my own stocking each year (single parent, never had stocking as a child). I mainly buy my favourite sweets and a few other bits such as….

Gloves or hand warmers
Socks/walking socks
Seeds (flowers or novelty veg)
small cross stitch (hobby craft)
lush bubble bar
lush snow fairy spray
Travel cup or small flask
A not book or Diary
Novelty pen
chocolate orange
hot chocolate bomb
A pair of earrings (I don’t wear expensive jewellery).
A packet of my favourite crisps or mini pot of Pringles

I don’t really drink, I don’t like candles or make up 😬 so most of the things suggested by others would not get used.

ProperDeep · 13/10/2023 16:23

Very puzzled by the ‘ladies’ title. Do you mean women, @SharonTheHappySquirrel?

Personally I wouldn’t trust the taste of anyone who couldn’t describe me using an acceptable term …
