It's our first Christmas with LO this year who will be 9 months nearly 10 by then, very exciting but we're stuck with gift ideas!

Has anyone got any recommendations?

A wrapped cardboard box full of all the wrapping paper?

Books are usually the best option at this age. The little duplo train with safari animals is popular too. A little toddler rucksack (the frugi ones are cute) for putting things in and taking them out again. Sticklebricks.

DD was 9 months last year. She got:

A vtech walker (second hand for £5 cos they use them for all of 5 minutes!)
Wooden rainbow
A little life backpack with reins
Bath toys
Leapfrog picnic basket
Baby Annabel for babies
Hide and squeak eggs
Books
Clothes
Blanket
Disney snack boxes

She's played with everything over the last year, although the walker is long gone!

A treasure basket of "real" things. Mine loved this:- old TV remote (no batteries), plastic bottle full of dried pasta to shake, big pine cone, my dad put a back on a lightswitch so it could be turned on and off but no open parts, colourful wide silky ribbon, a tin mug, a wooden spoon, etc.

Actually, yes, I also go for secondhand whilst they don’t care at all.

Great list fro @Footprintsinthesand. there is something about just wrapping up stuff they need anyway (eg nice tubs/pots/lunch bag for weaning and a cute sippy cup, pyjamas, a new toothbrush)

My LO will be 7 months by then, I’ve bought tons of toys and clothes from vinted. I’ll be stocking up on all his 9-12 months clothes ready (he’s big for age anyway). You can search by brand I.e vtech/melissa and Doug/ wooden toys, have lovely Ralph Lauren and Hugo Boss baby clothes too!

Also getting things I hope he’ll use for a few christmases - stocking, festive plates, nice first Christmas baubles, a Christmassy teddy that can come out with a Christmas Eve box or with the elf on the 1st.

The main gift will be a soft play set and/or Ballpit probably from The Luxury Nursery Company which has great deals atm or Kiddy Moon which has an Instagram code KIRSTY for 12% off - Haven’t yet decided how big of a set/how much I can spend! He may not get full use out of it yet but hopefully will be loved for some time to come!

Also very excited about this Night sky projector.

This is genius and reminded me that I’ve made a sensory bag to go along with a story previously for babies for Christmas so need to make one for mine!

edit: that was a reply to @Realfastfoodie

@Footprintsinthesand Some great ideas, thank you. We've thought about the walker and bath toys I'd not thought of, LO would love those

@Amimaimia - love a good starry night projector ❤️ put it on with calm music for winding down, or with something more energetic to dance to and dance out the last energy before bed!

A Vtech ride on train which is currently £50 in Smyths. Comes in pink and in red. It grows with them, so perfect from about 6 months to 2 years. It has a built in walker, lots of blocks, music and lights and is educational as well.

We’ve bought this so many times for various babies and it has always been a huge hit. Can’t recommend it enough.

skkyelark · 11/10/2023 17:21

DD2 was 10 months last Christmas, and she got:
Duplo (to expand our collection)
Galt pop-up peg people
Lift-the-flap books
Bath toy
Teddy
Hide-and-squeak eggs
plus various practical bits.

A xylophone is also good (DD1 already had one).

Just bought a Fisher Price Laugh and Learn car from vinted for £20, they’re Smyths for £60.

also wanted to add that I’ve bought some Baby Einstein instruments - the piano I’ve bought for many babies and always get mums thanking me that the LOs love it but it’s not an annoying noise (and is relatively aesthetic) !
