Can you remember where you got the fart pen from - sounds like it is just what I'm looking for!

Love these sorts of threads, thank you for starting it.

The pen mentioned above reminded me how much enjoyment came from a whoopee cushion in the kids' stockings! They took such delight in making us all 'fart' and of course we engineered opportunities for them to 'trick' us. Made even my lovely but fairly prim MIL laugh til she cried.

Most used was the throw that DH bought me as he was fed up of my complaining of being cold when watching TV. Been gratefully used most evenings for years, other than in the height of summer.

Unexpected hit was 'Articulate' , bought when the children were teens to try to make a Christmas day a family day. Such a simple game but was enjoyed and they bring it out each Christmas. An accidental tradition!

DH is difficult to buy for, for many reasons. I picked up off MN years ago the tip of replacing or upgrading something they already have (so a new white t-shirt to replace the greying one or blue jumper to replace the shabby on etc), and I always pass that on on these threads as it has worked for me. You can also think laterally; DH bought a new coat a couple of winters ago during a particularly cold spell. Although the scarves he had went OK with it, but I just happened to notice one that would be one that was chosen for that coat IYSWIM

One of those pin art things that you can mould you hand with and the pins stay in place…

A nose flute… I always get eldest a musical instrument of some sort!

An amazing little spinning top that flips onto its end when it’s spinning- from Babipur. I’ve bought more for other people this year!!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 05/10/2023 09:01

@fourelementary, could you do a link to the spinning top please? Sounds like a fun stocking filler!

Giant bubble makers. Or thousand bubbles machine

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 05/10/2023 13:32

A wolf onsie for ds. He wears it when it's cold and has been known to terrify me, crawling around corners growling.

Board Games.

Snacks from another country. Last year my cousin sent me a parcel of Turkish treats and they absolutely loved trying different things, discussing them and rating them.

Head torches.

Waffle maker for my 8 year old. We've had perfect waffles for a year every weekend nearly. This year Im getting her an icecream maker...fingers crossed for delicious icecreams all next year.

Nearlyadoctor · 05/10/2023 14:13

Not last year but about 3 years ago we bought Dd then about 12 a colour changing lightbulb - it was nearly the biggest hit that year.

CuteCillian · 05/10/2023 17:33

My surprise hit last year was a fluffy horse hot water bottle with an extra pocket to put p.j.'s in.
Not sure why, but popular enough for DNeice and DNephew to have already asked me to get one each for them this year... and I can't find it anywhere.

Hotel Chocolate velvetiser

Soda stream

A huge hamper filled with noodle pots, Tyrell's crisps, Dr Pepper cans and kinder bars

All the above were hits with my 16 year old son

BlairWaldorfOG · 05/10/2023 22:17

@SantaBarbaraMonica that's all my 8 year old wants this year!
