Thought I'd start a new thread for Christmas film recommendations. I have 3DDs 11-14 so looking for recommendations other than the usual 😊

A boy named Christmas, I needed to watch it a couple of times to fully follow it last year but I did have a double chest infection.

They're the right age for the cheesy romcoms on Christmas 24
My favourites are the Mrs Miracle ones, that and Snow.

EllieQ · 25/09/2023 22:14

While You Were Sleeping with Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman.

AMessageToYouRuby · 25/09/2023 22:29

Our favourite family Christmas films are Trading Places, Die Hard and Home Alone.

I love all the Rom Coms with a touch of Christmas too:
Love Actually
Sleepless in Seattle
You've got Mail
The Holiday
The Preachers Wife
While You Were Sleeping
Bridget Jones
The Family Stone (bit weepy)
About a Boy
Christmas in Connecticut

Also Scrooged, Meet me in St Louis, National Lampoons and always, always Gremlins!

BlairWaldorfOG · 25/09/2023 22:47

As well as the above, Noelle on Disney+ is good and maybe a little young but my girls enjoyed the Princess Switch on Netflix.

Nerdle · 25/09/2023 23:17

I am here for this thread.

Except I forget the names of them all.

dd12 enjoyed Last Christmas

I liked the terrible one about a writer helping a woman find her biological mum and in the process repairing his relationship with his dad. But I can’t talk because I also loved A Castle for Christmas.

Ovaloffice · 25/09/2023 23:28

Daddy’s home 2 is a big hit in our house

mogtheexcellent · 25/09/2023 23:32

The writer one with a woman searching for mum is the Noel diaries on netflix. The male lead is santa no. 2 from bad moms xmas and he is very easy on the eye.

My dd and I like 12 dates of christmas on disney+, princess switch and christmas chronicles films on netflix and Christmas cupcakes which is being regularly repeated on great christmas on freeview ch 52.

Nerdle · 25/09/2023 23:42

Thank you @mogtheexcellent

Also I enjoyed that one about the woman falling for the very weird looking man who is meant to be the romantic lead, who is grown up yet believes in Santa.

oh yes I also liked the one about a film star whose journey home gets thwarted by snow and who meets a waitress who takes him back to her family home. No idea what that was called either

MorrisZapp · 26/09/2023 00:00

There's a really cheesy film called One Special Night, starring Julie Andrews and James Garner as grumpy old gits who accidentally spend a night in a log cabin with predictable but very charming consequences. It's on YouTube for free. I watch it every year.

SkiingIsHeaven · 26/09/2023 00:05

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

SkiingIsHeaven · 26/09/2023 00:06

Deck The Halls

SkiingIsHeaven · 26/09/2023 00:06

Die Hard

CrazyBaubles · 26/09/2023 00:16

The ones aimed at teens that I can think of are
12 Dates of Christmas
The Lindsay Lohan one on Netflix
Christmas Inheritance
Daddy's Home 2
Four Christmases
Deck the halls

Although I don't think you're ever too old for Home Alone/The Grinch/Muppets Christmas Carol Xmas Grin

WhatsForTeaMama · 26/09/2023 00:18

Last Christmas is an amazing film with a wonderful twist. Watched it last year for the first time and it's shot right up near the top of my all time favourites.

bellamountain · 26/09/2023 00:31

The original Prancer and Charlie Brown and Snoopy Christmas.

Ihaveawonderfulpartner · 26/09/2023 07:50

The Christmas chronicles on Netflix are great Christmassy films. Modern but fun.

TheShinmeister · 26/09/2023 15:42

Don’t think you can beat Elf and Muppet Christmas Carol (two absolute faves) x

liveeverysecond · 26/09/2023 15:54

This is great, thanks everyone! I think I need to write myself a list and we can slowly tick them off in the coming months 😂

Every year DD and I watch:

Last Christmas ( the one with Emilia Clark and Emma Thompson)
Lost Christmas ( yje one with Eddie Izzard)
Angels in the Snow (Kirsty Swanson)

And I'm sure there are tonnes of CCF (Cheesey Christmas Films on Ch 5/ Hallmark) but the names escape me .I'm sure there will be a thread about the CCF Xmas Grin

Also
A Christmas Carol loads of versions some good/some awful
I want to watch "Spirited" (Ryan Reynolds)

DH likes Christmas with the Kranks (mainly because of Jamie Lee Curtis)

Loads of TB shows but you wanted films .

ClaraBourne · 26/09/2023 23:56

Muppets Christmas Carol!

It’s a wonderful life and Love actually are my 2 ultimate faves.

I love the Santa Clause Franchise too, and we will always have The Snowman and Father Christmas (Raymond Briggs) On.

Love all the cheesy Hallmark type ones on Movies 24 and Great Christmas - One of my favourites being “Family for Christmas”

NellyTimes · 28/09/2023 08:46
