Did anyone buy an X Box for Christmas last year?

At what point did you buy it? We are getting an Xbox X for DS. I could buy now but that’s 3 months of any guarantee with it sitting in a box until Christmas. I don’t want stock to run out either. I’m trying to hold out to November. I doubt there will be any Black Friday deals to be had but if you did get one could you let me know?

I don't think there were issues with Xboxes last year, I did struggle to get a PS5 at one point though as they seemed to be the in console last year.

I did, bought with money off offer at Very. The console went down even cheaper on Black Friday at both Very and smyths toys. Wasn’t too worrying as we had saved a lot on the controllers with the Very offer which weren’t further discounted but could be worth holding your nerve.

My eldest ds got a Xbox last Xmas I didn't get any deals on Black Friday but I did get 20 percent of with my blue light card. So maybe worth asking someone for a curry's code?
My youngest wants. Ps5 heat again I'm going to wait till Black Friday in the hope of a discount or a game bundle

I pay )2 ever 2 years it gives nurses and other workers discounts if you look in the blue light website it tells you all the jobs that are applicable to apply . I've just looked and no discount at curry's just now but it can change week -week

Whatever you do, get it out of the box and test it when it arrives. From bitter experience, I will always do this now. Naught DS a PS5 for his November birthday. I was also conscious of the Xmas availability. It was DOA and wouldn't power on, I was devastated, so was he. It was over 30 days from purchase and I had a really tough job getting my money back. So I couldn't confidently purchase a replacement. It was DS's only present and we couldn't afford to do anything until I got the refund agreed. He got a replacement eventually but it was a very tough lesson for me. I cried A LOT, he didn't cry AFAIK thankfully.

We got one last year as an extra last minute present for DS. It was probably early December I think. There was no problem getting one and I got a really good deal in Currys if I remember. Great service/quick delivery.

Don’t just test it - I think you often have to register/download software (hardware?) updates etc - I’ve read threads on here in the past saying it took a long time to set consoles up and a lot of Christmas Day was spent waiting for things to download.

Yes this is true too. Because everyone is trying to do the same update at the same time, the servers get maxed out. Also everyone getting new devices for Xmas puts a strain on the internet in general and so your ISP may struggle with the speed of your connection on Xmas day. It's better to test it, then download all the updates and even their favourite game then box it up again.

You do lose x days of the warranty, but if you actually need to use the warranty it's better to at least know it all worked when you got it out of the box.

It took me 6 weeks to get the faulty one refunded via my credit card rules.

Agree with testing and set up. We bought DS an ipad at the beginning of August. Set it up, all worked. Put it away for his September birthday. Took it out to mirror it to his old one last week and it had a pixel line on it! The next day 2 lines. The 3rd day 3 lines. Took it to Apple shop and they are replacing no quibble however he is gutted as it won't arrive before his birthday. And it's his only present (apart from books for his kindle from family)
