Looking for ideas for 2yo old DS other than the below, which are his main current interests.
Also expecting new baby in January so anything that will interest him in babies is a bonus.

Things he already uses a lot:
Happyland
Duplo
Wooden Trains
Toy Kitchen/ tea set/ wooden fruit.
He has hot wheels but not really interested.

3rd birthday coming up in Oct. I'm going for a bit set of magnatiles.

Magnatiles are a huge hit with DS3 so I second them.

Also dressing up Clothes and accessories are a win with 99% of children of that age.

We got my daughter a wooden ice cream shop/ stand (great little trading company) for her 2nd birthday and of everything she’s ever had that’s the one that has had the most play and still gets used almost daily.

Just had her third birthday and got a set of magnetic tiles which she is using lots, so we might add to them at Christmas.

I’m also toying with the idea of tonies box/ yoto - as I have been since she was one actually but never taken the plunge! They’re just so expensive for something I’m not totally sure she will get much use from.

@AliasGrape we have a Yoto mini… DS is not hugely interested in it yet, but it is handy for car journeys and I think we’ll get more use as he gets older.

When I was researching, the general consensus seemed to be that Yoto would last longer as there are more options for stories etc as they get older. Tonies appealed more to younger children with the figures.

My nephew is getting a sandpit from his parents this Christmas, so they’ve asked me to give him a whole load of diggers and construction vehicles or sand toys to use in it. He’s just had his 3rd birthday and we got him an AquaPlay lock box, although his ultimate favourite toy is Toot Toot Drivers.

DS turning 3 just before Christmas 😊

  • Magnatiles as already suggested! Bought him a set at 2 and have bought a second set for 3rd bday to extend his collection. So open ended and he plays with them every single day. Builds houses, roads/ramps for his cars etc.
  • Games like beanbag toss, hoopla, skittles etc
  • Pop-Up pirate
  • Craft supplies
  • DS has a baby boy doll (he chose it himself) and loves to feed/change it etc. Also has a Sylvanian families house that he loves 😊

We do have some magnatiles but they seem to collapse very easily and DS gets frustrated. We also don’t have enough to make anything very good.

Maybe a second set would be a good idea, and he might be less clumsy by then..

My son is turning 2 in October.
I’m getting him a ride on motorbike because he loves the one at playgroup.
I’m also getting him a vtech garage because he absolutely loves the one we have but, being our third child to play with it, it’s on its last legs.
