Will a 2 year old understand an advent calendar?

I've started planning/buying for Christmas super early this year. Dc will be 2 and as of right now (21mo) would have no clue, it would be meaningless and pointless.

I really wanted to get a fabric one and put a Christmas activity in each day but not sure if I should wait until next year.

Did your 2 yr old understand something like that? I don't know how much will change in the next 3 months and he's a bit of a late developer anyway.

I got a sticker one for 2. Then at 3 I got a wooden tree which they add an animal decoration to each day. We’ve used that every year since but I’ve added a chocolate to it too as he got older. Wholesome and cheap.

I almost got a pkaymobil one a few years ago but I’m so glad I didn’t because we’d never be able to afford things like that now.

Just seen this on Pinterest which my 2 year old would love to do. Better get the sewing machine out 😉

This sounds lovely. What kind of activities are you thinking? I'd like to do something similar for my toddler!
