I have an 18 month old would you recommend a yo-to or a Toniebox? I worry about yoto cards being broken. But I think it would have more longevity?

@Dreamingofwalden

We have 4yo twins. Well, they will be by Christmas.

With the minis, do they need one each or can you share one? Can two headsets link to one? Are the headsets compulsory?

You could just buy one but my boys fight over everything so we bought them one each. The headphones are not compulsory. My eldest prefers his without but he has his own bedroom whereas the younger two share a bedroom.

The headphones can be linked together to listen to the same thing at once. When we were on holiday they quite often did this during the day but at bedtime listened to something on their own.

I feel your pain. With twins the only thing worse than none of something, is one of something.

Can they fall asleep with the headphones on, are they quite soft? Or would you just have one playing out loud for them to fall asleep too?

The headphones are soft and mine sometimes fall asleep with them on though I prefer one playing out loud. I worry about the fire risk of leaving them with them in their bed. If they have them on at bedtime I usually set a timer and go in and remove them.

Thank you!

A question for any creatively minded people on here... I'm planning to put these into potion kits for my DDs, so will be re-labelling the bottles. For instance, I've got green bath confetti labelled as mermaid scales, washing up liquid as frog slime, etc. What could this foam stuff be? All that comes to mind is something to do with clouds, but don't think eldest DD would be convinced by that!

Hobbycraft sell potion bottles for about £2 each all labelled up as part of their halloween collection, might be worth a look.

Very tempted by the mini Yoto bundle- thank you for sharing! Can you play cards on a loop on the mini?

Yes, there is a way to set that up on the app.

Quite a few deals on toys r us at the moment and free delivery on orders over £20 so not bad!

Can’t quite remember the WH Smith deal on colouring pens the other day but they have 50 for £5.99 here.

There is some chat here about headphones and the yoto- you can buy a standard jack to split headphones into two or alternatively just listen through its built in speaker. TBH it's great for wee ones, but by about 7 audible us much better.

Also...

Good bargains on some things on bargain max with code PRICECUT25 taking 25% off loads of things including lego, barbie, LOL. Double check as some things still cheaper elsewhere, but if you are looking for a specific set it's worth a look. That snake game posted the other day is £7.99 before discount.

Free delivery over £10. Sorry in a rush so no time to find specific items.

@tedybear thanks so much for sharing. I also have two girls (5 and 3) so please let me know if you find any other bargains! I’ve just been looking at second hand Barbie dream houses today (they are sooo expensive new)

@Kfjsjdbd Just had an entertainer email saying the dreamhouse is £169.99 with code BARBIE30. Not sure how that compares to elsewhere.

ilikeeggs · 01/09/2023 13:40

How did I not know that toys r us had a website?! I thought they’d completely closed down.

Hickry · 01/09/2023 14:25

Thank you for sharing the bridal beauty box deal. Mine has just arrived and I love it. I never buy fancy things for myself and I was unsure with you not knowing what would be in the box but I love all of it! 🙂

Hello thanks for all of the bargains so far… Just wondering can anybody recommend a beauty/skincare advent calendar which doesn’t cost the earth?! For a label conscious teen

TryingtobePrepared · 01/09/2023 14:36

Borrowbox doesn't work on chrome or amazon devices in the UK

I would still go for a yoto. The cards are quite hard to break but if one gets lost or stolen you can still play the content through the player from the app on your phone of get a make your own card and link the content to it. As far as I know if a Tonie character is lost or broken you can't do that.

There are people who have attached shoulder straps to the yoto mini adventure jacket so kids can wear it like a shoulder bag to reduce risk of it being dropped. Ours has been dropped down the stairs and is absolutely fine though.

Kfjsjdbd · 01/09/2023 14:42

@BluePeppermint thank you so much for sharing! Now I’m wondering whether to buy it now or to wait until Black Friday. Argh!

psuedocream3 · 01/09/2023 15:10

If anyone sees any mega bargains on pollypocket or tonka please let me know :)

Flubadubba · 01/09/2023 15:29

One other thing on Yoto: being able to stream stories and songs from my phone to the car during long journeys has been a life saver, though we have had to listen to Andy and the flippin' band (doesn't look like they have it any more) a trillion times
