This might sound like a silly question… but what does a Yoto do? I’m thinking about getting my 3yr old and my 7yr old the mini one.

@Ehunt1 it's an audio player that you buy cards for so kids can access audio content independently and without screens. You can get stories, music etc but also use to play podcasts or radio.
You can download the app for free to explore the content etc and how it works before comitting to buying one which is handy. You can also use as a Bluetooth speaker.

@Notlongnow1 thank you. I thought it only played the cards. Is there much difference between the mini and the full-size one? I was planning on getting the mini adventure bundle offer.

Most notable are thermometer and nightlight on large. Better sound quality and memory too but we have over 120 cards and memory not been an issue and sound quality on mini is decent too.

Another one who loves Yoto - my 4 yr old uses it every night. For her birthday, we got her grandparents and aunts and uncles etc to each read her a story and put them on a MYO card. Best present ever, she loves choosing someone to read to her.

Thanks again @Notlongnow1 I’ve went with a Yoto mini each, they’ll get more use out of them than the full size one. I used a referral code off the referral thread and used PayPal pay in 3 to spread the cost.

Yoto users! I need educating - how do you build up a library without spending the earth? I see the myo cards, but I wouldn't know how to find/purchase audio book files to programe onto them! Does anyone buy files from say amazon and then programe onto myo cards?

I've been pondering a mini, but I'm not sure how used it would be? Almost 5 and almost 2 at Christmas, January birthdays (yes I suck at planning haha).

@Blessedbethefruitz those are the ages mine first got them and have just built up collection gradually really. We had club membership for first year as gift from grandparents so that helped. Also put audio cds we already had on myo cards. In Facebook yoto groups, people will often post links to free or cheap audio book mp3s. Audible not easily done as you have to buy software to convert the files to mp3 apparently. I've never done it so not sure how that works quite!

We have a toniebox which is the most used 'toy' ever but DD is about to turn 7 and this seems more suitable.

Re: affordable yoto cards - I used to follow the Facebook community for tip offs, for example I bought the Zoe & Sassafras collection from Audiobooks now (It was cheap at the time) - then download and convert the file into a yoto one with their software.
Make Your Own cards can be rewritten.

its main use in our house is at bedtime when we put on a story podcast, then a sleep podcast, then night radio. All of those are free anyway. And the daytime radio is brill too for kids songs.

No idea what cards to get but got a few months to sort that out it anyone sees any offers ,🙏.

Yoto again sorry - you can filter in the shop for cards included in Yoto club (and further by age, sort by price etc) - if there are lots that appeal to you, then as pp mentioned you can choose 2 cards each month for £10, and get discount/free shipping on their other cards.

We love our yoto players too, and get most of our audiobooks from the library app. They're used every day, I'm debating whether to get a mini-it's a great deal, or another original one for my third.

Blue crazy soap is currently £1.60 on Amazon (and asda instore which I think they're matching?) min order is three but makes a great stocking filler. My kids have always had fun with them

Thank you for the yoto info! We have a Tonies box and they do love it but I think a yoto mini sounds great for travelling and bedtime.
