Any ideas for activities/plans to make with friends, parents/siblings and older DC. Am sorted for the younger children 'family' type of plans but looking for some inspiration on what to do, the more unusual the better!

We've dinner and a musical, the ballet and afternoon tea booked already with DC but I love a festive event. All recommendations welcome.

Ideally in and around London but can do Essex, Kent, Hertfordshire and probably even further afield. Have a car.

I love festive events too! I only know London stuff but there's Winter Wonderland, Royal Albert Hall does a lot of Christmas stuff, Ice skating - last year there was a rink and food stalls outside Battersea Power station plus inside there's all the shops (inc Nike, addidas which teens would like) and eateries. Luna cinema for Christmas movies, lights at Kew Gardens.

Christmas Actually at the RFH.

Thanks, although think we have done Winter Wonderland to death now as londoners.

My own contributions if anyone is keen is Gingerbread City (still enjoyable for adults) followed by dinner at The Alfred Tennyson or Star Tavern nearby. Christmas baking classes at Eataly and Waitrose Cookery School at Granary Square. St Martin in the Fields carol concerts which are ticketed so you don't have the merry hell which is St Pauls queue.

Thanks @Lysianthus I hadn’t heard of Christmas Actually before seeing your post!! Sounds perfect. Just booked for me and my best friend to see it on 9th December 👏

OP - the Festive Food Fayre at Hampton Court Palace is also great fun for adults!! We also love Christmas at Kew.

My adult DS is a little Christmas Humbug Xmas Shock last year we managed to drag him to the cinema to see Violent NightThis year DH,DD (21) and I are going on an open topped bus tour to see the lights .

If there's a good new film we'll all go (looked at Wonka but not convinced )
Love Actually is on at our local Vue , I've watched it loads but never on the big screen.

I like the idea of Afternoon Tea but we can never agree on it (DH doesn't like sweet things , DS doesn't eat sandwiches ) . I did a big brunch last year which was delicious so we'll do that on Dec 1st .

We've been to Winter Wonderland , Kew at Christmas , Harry Potter at Christmas

DD and I are going to ABBA Voyage Xmas Grin
