A Christmas 2023 event near me was advertised last weekend and tickets were released. It's already sold out!!

I was just wondering if anyone has already booked their Christmas treats and days out? And if so, what did you book?

I know it's June. I'm aware of the months of the year.

My husband has just upped and left and I'm having to budget from now to afford Christmas and I'd love to make sure my DC have a lovely day out somewhere despite what has happened 😊 (I'm thinking ice skating!)

@feellikeanalien we booked the light trail too! Also been looking at kielder but can't decide, maybe next year. Trying to hit things at correct ages as we have one 7 year old in December and one turning 3 so he's old enough to do lots more than her.
Would love to get in a lapland trip before eldest is too old but I'm pregnant again and I don't know if we will be able to get there when all can appreciate it 😢

Does anyone have any good events for Hampshire/Surrey/Wiltshire in and around the M3 side? We’ve just moved to near Bstoke/Winchester and don’t really know the area well enough yet to know where to go for good activities! DC Will be 2 and 5 if that helps!

Longleat is supposed to be great at Christmas - its a bit far for us as we're the other direction. Also you can get to the aforementioned Watercress Line easily - tickets are on sale now. Panto at The Anvil in Basingstoke.

I got a brochure through from a company that runs bus tours to Festive events (UK and Europe) I was very tempted by some .

Last year DH and I went to a Christmas Market in Bath with a hotel booked then visit to Cambridge . Very nice not having to drive or look for parking ( there was none )
Might book next year for Bruge or similar . I think we have enough things on this year .

Today I booked our Christmas afternoon tea on 23rd, hoping I'm early enough that my request for a table by the fireplace is honoured.
We have tickets to wicked in Edinburgh on the 29th which I bought last December and will be part of the children's gifts, Will maybe go to the zoo and the Christmas markets while we're there.
I'm not booking anything else, hoping to just chill in the weekends prior, lots of Christmas movies and walks with hot chocolate afterwards!

We are taking our two DDs and three grandchildren on a day trip to Lapland we did it 7 years ago just with the two eldest DGC and thought it would be a great thing to do all together.
Yes it’s stupidly expensive but I have had breast cancer since then and 6 operations and then nursed MIL to the very end at home with us. So the thought is soddit!
Thank you lovely MIL for making it possible. Xxx

We've booked tickets for 'Christmas Actually' at the Royal Festival Hall. A Richard Curtis production which sounds good.

Longleat looks good

Just booked the Northern lights tickets for 1st December. Would've loved to have done Alnwick castle light trail, but this is a little closer to home. So that's lights and Panto ticket off the list. Santa visit still to book, we've managed to get tickets for John Lewis last year and Fenwicks the year before, and both went in minutes of going on sale, so I feel we've been lucky to get then and quite happily miss out this year and do an Elfie video again and the local shopping center santa.

eastiseastwestiswest · 27/08/2023 20:59

I've booked the panto for the 30th December again. The other things I'm wanting to take them to haven't released tickets yet as far as I can see. The last few years I've tried to do a trip with a friend to the ballet in London but I think I'll skip that this year.

Nope! Although DD14 did ask today if she can go with her girlfriend to a winter wonderland about an hour & a half away from us for her December birthday.

Floralnomad · 28/08/2023 21:47

We always do Longleat and have also booked Muppet Christmas Carol with a live orchestra , the London horse show at the Excel and we are also popping in to the Excel winter festival thing on the same day - not the sort of thing we usually do but as we are there at the horse show we thought we may as well . We also do lots of NT houses , Kingston Lacy is usually my favourite .
