It was in the sale, massively discounted and I know I can give it to someone next Christmas.

Feels mad though.

You've officially lost the plot. 🤣

titchy · 28/03/2023 17:31

You need to post where you put it for safekeeping. Because you know you'll be back here in December wondering Grin

ChippyTea16 · 29/03/2023 09:29

Aww I think this is a good idea! If you know you can give it to someone and it was discounted then its a bargain :) I'd love to have a Xmas cupboard to store stuff (and get excited when I look in it haha)

This!!! My mother-in-law buys xmas presents all year round, wraps them and hides them straight away. Every year without fail there's presents that she knows she's bought but can't find, duplicate presents because she forgets that she already bought the same thing earlier in the year, or gifting things to the wrong person as she hasn't labelled them. (Best example of this being when she bought me some New Look lacy underwear (don't ask(!)) and then accidentally gifted them to her husband instead. So cue my father-in-law having to hand me said lacy underwear. Honestly don't know who was more embarrassed!

MrsCrimbo74 · 31/03/2023 18:23

ooh I’m intrigued, what was the bargain gift? X

OperationMalena · 31/03/2023 19:36

It was a designer male grooming kit that was 70% off. Sounds naff but the vain males in my house would love it.

I already have half my daughters presents! All brought at atleast 25% off most closer to 50%. She will only be just over18m so isn't likely to be asking for specific things so seems silly not to buy stuff I have on my list when I see it discounted.

Cuwins · 31/03/2023 19:46

Also a couple brought 2nd hand- 2 for free.

StopGrowingPlease · 02/04/2023 11:44

If I could afford to do this I would have started my Christmas shopping too but I can’t afford to start until October and even then it won’t be much 😩

PumpkinSpicedTea · 02/04/2023 16:57

Buying stuff through the year and following the bargain threads has been revolutionary for me. If its something you know they'll like and it's a bargain and not a waste it's definitely not crazy!

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 02/04/2023 17:25

I have a locked suitcase under the bed for presents. Nobody but me knows where the key is but it's in a place I won't forget.

ToriLynn · 06/04/2023 21:00

I've got all but 2 birthday presents bought for the year and all but 4 Christmas presents 😂 I feel like I get more organised each year! It's a shame the house isn't as organised 😂

Have you checked the use by dates? 😂

JusthereforXmas · 17/04/2023 17:51

I just bought the first 'christmas' item today. Its just a thing of Marvel stickers for 10p to be a stocking filler lol. I was actually buying my daughters birthday stuff but it was right on the counter and for 10p why not. Now its made me want to buy more though.

MrsMiddleMother · 30/04/2023 22:21

I'm jealous! We've only just moved house so I'm waiting until we're fully unpacked and settled (and figure out my new hiding place) before I buy any gifts, there's been a few things in sales I've been tempted but stopped myself due to the move.

EwwSprouts · 30/04/2023 22:22

Nooo!

Cazs818 · 30/04/2023 22:26

I’ve always spread the presents throughout the year , if I spot a bargain & I know someone will love it I’ll grab it , write in my Xmas notepad , wrap and store , come oct/nov Xmas is finished leaves more time for making memories

Rattlethestars · 05/05/2023 07:56

We bought DD a game for Xmas, but only because we were buying her stuff for her birthday and wanted free delivery 😁

TheOGSloth · 05/05/2023 11:21

Bought my first ones last week in the Smiggle sale including a backpack, pencil case, water bottle and lunch box set reduced from £50 to £20 and a half price stationary set (sounds a very practical present but my 5 year old loves school stuff 🤣)

Mrsfussypants1 · 05/05/2023 19:47

I'll admit I've bought dgds christmas gifts already apart from sweets. She's currently almost finished the first Harry Potter book being read to her she's 7 almost. I'm taking her to the castle (Alnwick) used in the film for her birthday next month and have stuck to that theme for christmas and gifting her a trip to Harry Potter studio for christmas, gift for the family really.
To go with I've picked up
*hp house hoodie (m&s 1/2 price sale), £12
*hp pjs and cosy socks £7(George sale).
*Hp pop up book (£32, but paid £10.51 through amazon deal and rewards earned)
*hedwig purse pet (rrp£35 paid £12.24, amazon deal plus used rewards earned)
I'll pick up some hp chocolate from m&s nearer christmas, and I've seen some nice hp trunk gift boxes on amazon which I'll probably buy to put them in.
Both her parents love hp, so I'm not worried she won't like them nearer christmas at all, I'm quite chuffed with my bargains, they're good quality and thought out. The trip is a family gift for all three.

StopGrowingPlease · 16/05/2023 14:58

I’ve just managed to get dp a present for £3 from a charity shop brand new and it’s currently selling for between £22-£29.99 depending where you look online 🤗

Laureli · 16/05/2023 15:54

AHH STOP IT .... SAME :D

In fact ive bought quite a few already !
7 for my lil girl and 5 for my boy. But same as you extremely discounted i couldn't pass on it. Amazon is my best friend honestly ! :D

SunThroughTheCloudsAt6am · 16/05/2023 16:19

I've already started on the stocking fillers and a couple of bigger bits as I've seen them.... If I don't buy them when I see them I'll have forgotten by the time Christmas comes!

Cheezecake · 17/05/2023 11:10

I have started to make my xmas gifts. I have no money to buy then and at least I have enough time between now and xmas to make everything.

pinkksugarmouse · 03/06/2023 00:28

It’s a bit odd because buying things this early means that person might buy if for themselves or receive it or similar for another special occasion or for kids especially go off their current fad.
You also loose out as a consumer. If anything is wrong with an item or if there’s a warranty it will have run out.
I suggest people be very careful about buying this early.
