Ideas welcome for next year (I keep a notebook of what works well and keep my eyes on the sales)

thinking practical and some food related (try to keep clutter down)
marshmallow fluff was a winner as well as fizzy drinks they never usually get

You don't say how old 'older' boys are but - I've saved these threads from a few years ago, which are full of ideas

I have a ten year old and big hits this year where eraser pens (Japanese animal type ones), Japanese sweets, little dog shaped reading lamp, a reusable straw and pokemon cards.

Slimjimtobe · 08/01/2023 16:57

Thanks so much. I just said I would get the ideas while fresh in the mind 😂
brilliant thank you!

in my mind already is Jenga and some unusual sweets. Maybe walkie talkies - decent ones that dh would use too when we are out and about in the countryside.

A big stocking hit for 14 year old ds this year was a bag of toffee popcorn. Also one of those chocolate cake in a mug sets.

SallyWD · 08/01/2023 17:42

My son's 10. He liked the Horrible Histories Top Trumps, hot chocolate bomb and hot chocolate toppers from Lakeland. This cylindrical rubix cube thing and another 2x2 rubix cube. Sweets, including chocolate coins, a Robux gift card.

@Slimjimtobe, I do the same!
I’ve made a note of banana boots which look ideal. I’ve also seen an alarm clock that has a top for charging phones (WHSmith, didn’t buy it this year as didn’t want DS having his phone in his bedroom)

Microwave popcorn (B&M)
Flannel
Christmas dinner pot noodle (Asda)
Coloured plug for their phone charger
Popping candy
Chocolate orange

@Slimjimtobe my dc got Motorola walkie talkies a couple of years ago and they are brilliant. Three handsets and they take them to the forest when we go for walks or to the countryside if we go on holiday. Mostly they use them around the house

My 9yo son got a small toolbox with a spirit level, screwdrivers, metal measuring tape and a mini can of WD40. The mini WD40 has been the favourite present!

Some cool ideas here - https://internationalelfservice.com/stocking-filler-and-christmas-present-ideas/

Talipesmum · 24/01/2023 22:57

Mine are 12 and 14 and I think their favourite thing was a bundle of microwave mug cake packets - dr oatker (sp?) ones - I ordered in bulk from Amazon. They have been making them for themselves as after school treat on cold days and apparently they’re v good!

Also a pack of fancy caramelised nuts (as an alternative to chocolate)

Picked up a couple of Among Us squashy toys at a market

These “flow rings” were a big hit a couple of years ago: amzn.eu/d/3JicaEq

Chopsticks in a nice case

Got them warhammer paints, voucher, boxes of dice etc in prev years.

Also as filler - hairbrush each

Much older boy here (23yo)

I don't do stockings but in his Dec 1st Bag ( amongst other things )

Carbon Theory soap ( got the white one for a change , I think Salacyclic Acid )
Carbon Theory face serum
Good quality nail clippers and tweezers
Beard Brush
Guitar Picks
Charger cables ('cos the little lighter loses or breaks them)
Pack of highlighter pens
Pack of graphite pencils in various hardness levels
Packs of non chocolate sweets like fruit sherbets, DibDabs, Haribo, Mentoes
He likes useful basics (and sweets Xmas Grin )
