Anyone turning over a new leaf today

I've been eating healthily for a while but since Thursday, I have eaten quite a bit of junk.

I feel godawful today.

Anyone else going on a Boxing Day fast or just starting to eat better tomorrow?

I'm going to try from January (apart from mine and dps birthday)

CoffeeChocolateWine · 25/12/2022 16:28

I feel like I would like to and need to - my gut is not feeling it's happiest - but still a lot more Christmas celebrations with my
family and DH's family to get through over the next few days first. Once we're home on the 29th and back to our usual routine I'll start making healthier choices again. I find it hard to resist when there are treats and indulgences in every direction!

hellycat · 25/12/2022 16:37

Just think that it's the long stretch that does the damage. I mean, I started early this year, I have been eating utter shite since Friday. If there is such a thing as sugar poisoning, I have it. If I get sensible now, I might just see a gain of a few pounds. Carry on to NY, it will be more like a bloody stone.

Jan 1st

Though honestly I’m already there. I’ve had the flu recently and even though I’m better I’m still not eating half as much as I used to now. I feel stuffed after a small portion. I had two egg rolls for lunch (we’re do XMas dinner later on) and couldn’t breathe afterwards lol.

blackheartsgirl · 25/12/2022 17:13

I’ll start in January. I’ve drunk more than what is normal for me though. And that’s never good.

MrsMontyD · 25/12/2022 18:16

What you do between Christmas and Christmas is more important than what you do between Christmas and New Year.

AkoraEdelherb · 25/12/2022 18:28

I’m taking up running on the 1st of January. Will probably try to improve my diet then too…

I’m also going to be much more honest with my friends this coming year. 1st of January they’ll all be getting ‘honesty’ messages and plans for how/when I’ll be keeping in touch. I’m done being flaky in life.

FuckConvoGiveMeAForest · 25/12/2022 18:28

I'm starting tomorrow. Have eaten so much shit and been binge drinking since Friday 🙈 looking forward to getting healthy from 7am tomorrow when the alarm is set for a run. Want half a stone off by January 31st 👊

danni0509 · 25/12/2022 18:30

I’ve lost 4 stone since February. Really stuck to it and changed my eating habits, I really enjoy going to the gym 4 days a week now (I have always hated the gym!)

December has been out the window. I’m back on it tomorrow, I feel so shit and have no energy! You really are what you eat. i must of consumed a million calories in the last 3 weeks. I feel disgusting and my old binge habits (what made me 5 stone overweight) have crept back in..

So so true

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/12/2022 18:36

I’m going to do a January whole30 but until then I can only attempt to curb the excesses. I will be drinking though, and there will be at least a couple of days where food is outside my control. But I already feel like I can’t wait to start!

Battlecat98 · 25/12/2022 18:59

I feel pretty awful to, so much junk. I gave up alcohol Jan 22 and have had a few drinks last couple of days and feel awful. I will aim to do this again.

However, I do need exercise, I will start with kettle bell exercises again. What is the January whole30? I keep hearing about it, I tried to Google but couldn't seem to find it.

MassiveSalad22 · 25/12/2022 19:01

Yes! I love how I feel when I eat healthy and have recently been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease which will benefit from healthier eating. We have lots of chocs untouched/half opened and ready to be binned which is new for us! Feel like a grown up for once!

MassiveSalad22 · 25/12/2022 19:02

Got some champs in my stocking and (I rarely drink) thought I’d treat myself to a glass - came up straight away in a bright red face. So that’s an easy one to cut out for me! But won’t make a difference as I barely drink anyway 😄

hellycat · 25/12/2022 21:00

I wonder what it is about Christmas/late December that makes us lose the plot healthwise?

I too have been very good this year, but come the last fortnight - pah! And I feel horrible! Headaches and fatigue and moods all over the place - I do think that's sugar and too much refined carb. Gets worse as I get older too.

Whole30 is a detox type plan, it’s quite Americanised but it’s basically a strict whole foods elimination diet cutting out all common inflammatory foods, alcohol and sugar. It’s not right for everyone because it is very strict, but I have done it 5 times now and every time I feel amazing. It’s worth looking at if you really want that dramatic change/reset type plan. I am genuinely looking forward to it because I know how much better I will feel! I’m

hellycat · 25/12/2022 21:41

It sounds a bit like the Fast 800 way of eating, except with no dairy. I can see how you would lose weight on it, it sounds very low-carb.

I’m enjoying my treats once they’re gone back to normal.

My birthday is December so I pretty much indulge myself in shit eating for the whole month. But I'm starting to think that isn't a good idea as I get older. DH has put on quite a bit of weight this year and (whilst it's not allowed on here to criticise a partner's weight) I think it would do both of us good to get back into it.

Sadly, this time last year I said I'd lose a stone for my summer holiday. Never happened. Then I said I'd do it before my big birthday. Never happened. Maybe this year!

Not really low carb as you can have as much potato/sweet potato and carby veg as you want, and no calorie counting. Just eating proper nutrition really and no crap and additives. I did lose weight on it though, 11lbs in my first round which was in lockdown 2020.
